When you have one or the other plugged in and you wiggle the end around, Do you hear crackling? If you do, your card has a bad input and will either need to be professionally serviced, or replaced. If it doesn't crackle, but sometimes sound comes out, I'd check the connection to the mother board. I guess I'd check the motherboard connection anyway to be safe. Otherwise, get a sound card you know you can return if it turns out to not be the card alone. At worst, you'll have to get a new motherboard, at best, you can wiggle the cord and get sound when you need it. |

Yea I would suggest go getting a sound card to replace it. On board sound aren't really good for handling multiple sound applications. |

You might also make sure it's not muted. Double click the speaker on the task bar & see if anything says mute. or go under control panel & 2x click the sound icon then click the audio tab to see if it could be muted.
It's happened to me before. _________________ The few, the proud, the chickenz!

You can get a decent SoundBlaster card for under 50 bucks. |
