I'll say I love this map. There is teamwork involved in this map. Myself JD, and Robert basically worked together and won easily. I've seen that having at least one hw and one engy to get you back armor really works too. Snipers will have a more difficult time because they are prone to an errant (cough) planned grenade in their direction. A team of 3-4 on the same page is great imo. I guess if you are worried about potw then stick to avanti and warpath. I'm finding Wrath, Murderball, and Acropolis2 to be tons of fun for me. I've also scored well on all three as well.
Murderball 210-17
Acropolis 79-18
Wrath 26-16 (ok not great, but a first time player there)
You can score if you are smart and pick your shots well. I want these maps in rotation. Even being an avanti nut, that does wear a bit.
PS - We had 15 strong on Murderball today.

I'm not sure I see how snipers are threatened in Murderball. If they stay in their base's sniper deck, they can't be sniped from the enemy bases. Of course, anyone on the field is fair game for a sniper for the most part. It's pretty difficult to sneak up on the sniper decks too, unless you have a n00b sniper up there. I'd say disallow snipers on murderball and make it fun for everyone!

Let's try it without snipers than It's a fun map.
On acroplois we need some health bags usable by both teams on both sides of the map.

I cannot support this viewpoint more strongly - take away snipers from Murderball, and it becomes a great map. Sniping serves no purpose on Murderball except to hinder the progress of teams heading off to tackle the team in posession.
Pleeeeez - take out the Snipers from Murderball - I don't like 'em at the best of times, and though I agree it takes skill to make a good headshot, TFC is a TEAM game, and I am of the opinion that sniping in public matches is selfish.

I really think murderball is a great map. I actually had a pretty good stat run earlier in the week, (up to 10th there for a moment!) and murderball messed that up, but I didn't even care because it was so much damn fun.
As for the snipers, I do agree that they are a problem, but they are part of the game. We could try it for a bit with no snipes, but in the long run, the good players find ways around snipers in any map. Thats really part of the fun, isn't it?

LOL, Gibs...yeah, if you start sniping I have no doubt that we'll never hear an end to this "snipers ain't fair" post. The way I see this, some people just need to learn how to deal w/ snipers...even the really good ones can be beaten, you just need to figure it out. Actually, this thread really reminds me of all the times I've gone to a public server and seen umpteen complaints about how it's "impossible" to kill hws, or how infecting is cheap, or how engies are wusses...etc, etc, etc. Every class is "cheap" on certain maps, and when used by good players! A frustrated player will whine about how crappy the situation is...a good player finds a weakness and exploits it. I've no doubt that you can find one here too, just keep looking and don't get frustrated so easily.

You fail to recognize what happens if four good snipers are on the map. If someone steps outside, they die. Only the most moronic snipers let you sneak up on them. Think about what would happen if gibs, munkey, snake, and gloomie were all sniping on the map. It's mortifying. |

yeah not to mention yourself I can think of one thing that would be great. Spectator mode watching you top snipes make splat marks of each other. LOL

I find it very annoying playing Murder Ball with snipers period..
This map has an object to hold the ball as long as you can. Snipers
take the fun away if you ask me.. I think snipers should be set to ZERO
on this map... It would be fun to play this map using just Scouts fighting
with only crow bars 8-]

My biggest complaint about snipers is when they are on My team. IMO, the only really usefull classes on Murderball are Scout, HW, Engy, Soldier, Medic. That combo could easily swipe the flag quickly and defend it at the base |

I agree, Frag...I've played plenty of Murderball, and the biggest challenge is NOT when you have 4 excellent snipers out there...cause then they have to watch out for each other. It's when you have Snakeyes vs. (1)Player, (2)Player, and (3)Player or something nuts like that. And besides, I acknowledged that you'd die a lot...but then again, it'll work sometimes too...don't see how death matters when you respawn 2 seconds later.

Well, I like murderball as a map, and I hate snipers except when I am one.
I played last night as a sniper for the first time on TVII and I found that I could pick off anyone that was firing at me and I often did (Sorry LlamaBeans).
What I did the most as a sniper was wait for the ball to be dropped and return to the centre. Then I would "defend" the ball from the other teams until a member of my team could get out there to pick it up.
I was fairly successful at this, and my sniping just added to the spamfest that goes on when the ball is at the center of the playing field.
I think the limit of one sniper is perfect. If anything I have seen that a team with 2 HW's (skilled ones that is) can hold their base quite well as there seems to be few coordinated attacks on them. The other teams spend as much time killing each other as they do trying to get the ball.
So, my only advice to everyone is to attack only the base that has the ball in it, quit attacking bases without the ball. Your team will never get the ball if you leave it with another team in their base and of course your teams scores will not rise as fast as the team that is holding the ball.
