why is it disabled?

I'm not sure, but it might be to prevent cheating and afk players. Or it could just be that there is a limit to the number of spectators. We'll see what the admins say.

don't see how it could possibly prevent cheaters and it doesn't prevent afks. if someone wants to go afk they're going to go afk regardless of whether spectate is enabled or not. there's a limit of time you can stay idle before the server kicks you so really either way it wouldn't matter. secondly it makes it kinda hard to spectate a suspected hacker if you can't join spectator.

If there's a sniper that you just can't seem to find then spectating will let you find that person. That's really the only thing I can think of regarding cheating.

I wouldn't mind giving the option to spectate at times though. Would be nice to watch someone run around rather than stare at the respawn at those times when you're eating a sandwich or something.

when you die to anyone the camera swings in the direction you were shot from. you should be able to see where you were killed from. in that case the only thing you'd really have to worry about is someone ghosting but i really doubt anyone would go through the trouble.

It was taken away to stop a spectator exploit that was giving us problems.

so is spectate disabled for everyone including admins? i don't know this exploit but seems it makes it rather hard to watch a suspected cheater now.

Is it that thing that allowed people in spectator to kill people somehow and crash the server? That was annoying...

Also, I think people were using it to bypass the spawn timer.

well also sometimes i want to see if a player is cheating but i cant and if an admins there then yea, but i see the problems with the spectate exploit but hopefully we can find away to stop the exploit and still have the spectate mode!
