but uh, USC and Va Tech play next week. It's only 3 weeks til kickoff. The rest of the world can keep their Olympics and Soccer. I want FOOTBALL!

man watched that Hamm come back from 12th to take the gold after he blew the vault. Come to think of it everybody screwed up a little there at the end. He nailed that last event though.

I was watching the Men's All-Around, and was in suspense right after Hamm screwed the vault. Oh man, the way he just blew it off and came right back to win is amazing! He's the first and only American to win gold in that event ever!

Ya look where half of the olympians live. Here in the USA and train here and compete for other countries. I mean most of them live here, but because there is only so many allowed to compete per a event they go back on there ancestry. If you took all the people that train and live in the USA that have won medals it would be a total different outcome. Because it seems that 75% of the olympians train and live here in the good old USA.

The Americans really seem to be taking away the swimming competition. Just tonight I saw Beard Phelps and Piersol take gold (in three separate events)...two of those being new olympic records. Coughlin also took a bronze medal today. Phelps by the way now has 4 Gold medals, plus two others (both bronze I think).

From what I've seen, many olympic athletes are living here..(going to college, training, whatever), but I think it takes more that just living here to compete for the states. I don't think they compete for their home countries because they don't make the American team...I think they compete for their home countries because, well, they're their home countries.

Some countries I think do have better training facilities...or if not better, at least on par with the states. I think where we see this is those old Soviet Bloc Republics and their gymnastics pipelines. There, those are very important...I keep hearing on the commentary that every Romanian boy wants to learn the pommel horse...can't say the same for folks here in the states.

for the record when i posted what i did...we were not doing very well. About our basketball players i said don't give me the crap about our best aren't there...we are the best in basketball and Ming and Dirk are okay...but could be eliminated if we had Garnett and shaq underneath.

U.S. womens soccer team just took gold after scoring a goal in the second half of overtime. It's a huge win for some of the top players on this team like Mia Hamm, Joy Faucett and Julli Foudy who are retiring from International play.
