Happy CanaDay!
Canadian TV right now has a hilariously crap ad campaign for a Nova Scotia-brewed beer, with the rough Scottish accent, bagpipes and kilts. My wife apologises to me every time it comes on. |

Why? Didn't you notice the new trend? Things with Scottish accents are cool. Anyone notice how the Extra Gum commerical just "now" happens to have talking gum and with a Scottish accent when they (as far as I know) never did before? And before that, I think Red Bull did, but I haven't seen or heard a advertisement for one of those in quite some time.

Not that there's anything wrong with that - I enjoy being told my accent is nice (not that it happens often, because I'm not a speaker). I guess it happens for everywhere, such as with the Malibu adverts with the Caribbean people. Or with the posh British accents you hear when a company is attempting to give a higher-class image. |
