It should be any time now. They are cleaning up the release and scheduling servers to host downloads.
Check out http://www.hlrally.net for more info. _________________

I can't wait for this mod to come out. I have been waiting too long for it. I have a feeling that when it does come out that I may have to hang up my guns for a bit. All we need is a host for a server _________________

Could they have modified the HL engine? Or incorperated a secondary engine for vehicle support? _________________

I've been following this from day 1. Can't wait for the release. But I have too.

From hlrally.net:
Half-Life Rally uses Micro-Technology, which means that everything is approximately 1/5 of the size.
For anyone technically minded, to achieve this Micro-Technology in maps we use an altered HULL file setting in the compile stage of HL-Rally maps. This special hull effectively disables them as they are 'axis-aligned' which means they are no use for solid rectangular objects like cars. When you rotate the car, it will not remain aligned to these axises (X, Y, Z Axis). This means the hull is completely useless.
So what do we do? We do our own real-time collision detection, while its not shown in the Downloadable Track Development Kit, it has been functioning beautifully for us for the past 6 months. It is a minor performance hit to do it Real-Time, but its vital to the feel of the game, and presents some other benefits to mappers - with the hulls shrunk to 0 0 0, far less planes are created in the compiling process, with more planes to spare, you can make your tracks much longer and more detailed than a regular Half-Life level.
That's all I could find. _________________ Recipient of POTM award

hl's engine was specifically designed to be flexable in many different ways, valve just never tried to take full opportunities of these possibilties. basically they did wat ne mod does and wrote it into the mods code and found out how to make it run smooth. i hope this helps out some _________________
