So, I'm bored and figure "I'll post some stuff that might be interesting
to read...."
Offense v Defense:
Very often I'll be playing and our base will get overwhelmed by enemy
heavy classes. The call then goes out for more D to keep them out of
the base. To me, this makes no sense. If heavies are coming into your
base it tells me that you're not keeping them busy enough in their base.
The best example I can think of.....if it were football would you want to
play defense on your 10 yard line or their 10 yard line.
Never turtle.
Sniping
I no longer like sniping snipers. To me it's far more helpful to the team to
take out as many of the potential flag carriers and casualty creators as
is possible. Of course, you can't let their snipers take your guys out so
you pop up and shoot them often enough to keep them occupied wondering
where you are. The end of the hallway on Flagrun....I hate that spot. That
map has TONS of good, creative spots in it. By moving to locations not
usually thought of as sniping spots I've gotten far more kills (and helped
my team a lot more presumably).
Get out and kill somebody. Killing them when they exit their door is
far better than trying to kill them as they run through your door.
Don't let them kill the flag carrier
Playing TFC I'm never happier than when I take out the guys chasing
our flag carrier. I'll die to make sure he makes it. Am I that much into
helping the team? Maybe. But on the few occasions I'll get a flag I
really, really, really, really hate it when I'm almost safe and a rocket
hits me in the butt. If you have a mic and are running through an open
area let people know. I know if I see a med emerge from a door with
the flag that's my immediate focus.
Seriously...protect the guys with the flag.
Meds chasing me
So, the snipers end up witih sollies and meds chasing them around. It's
irritating but I see it as a sign of success (I also think being called a fag
sniper in game shows that we're doing our job). If you're running around
looking to kill me, then you're not going right for the flag which still helps.
I don't particularly see myself as a stat whore (although I like to rack up
kills....duh) so shooting you a few times and holding the nade button down
while you hang around suits me just fine.....especially if I'm already
infected.
I'm not really complaining about this...just saying that I'm usually laughing
when I see Giz, or Meat run up the ramp on Acro. The hallway in Flagrun,
I stay out of there all together if I can.
a touching tfc story
I've been playing at the ville for a while now. I don't try to be noticed or
anything, this is my 2nd post. Anyway, I started playing TFC over a year
ago and then about a week later I was in a car wreck. Basically the end
result was the car landed on my right arm and slid about a foot. It pretty
much screwed up my arm, miraculously didn't remove my arm and
somehow didn't break it. I basically had a good bit of nerve damage and
some tendon damage (lost like 1lb of my right arm). The short list is
a good portion of flesh missing, some tight tendonds, and I have ~50%
feeling in my thumb through middile finger. It basically looked like it went
through a cheese grater. At one point it sorta looked like that scene from
Terminator 2 when he pulled his skin off. Pretty neat to see in retrospect.
So, I'm sitting at home, had to quit work and school to do rehab. I'm like
"well, I'm going to try to play that stupid game." So I've got my arm
all bandaged up and I can't feel my mouse and I'm learning how to move
my hand and fingers again. Not suprisingly I'm sucking pretty bad.
Eventually TFC becomes one of the better rehab methods for rebuilding
dexterity and tactile motion that my rehab people have seen. They call
my progress "amazing" and decide that in my case using the mouse and
playing GT3 for hours on end is great. My arm won't ever be 100% again,
but it's still getting better.
So....to all those people that let me shoot them and those that chased me,
thanks
Ok....novel done.
As always...have fun, |

"sniff" You see....... TFC does save lives!!!!
But on a slightly more serious note (or not), glad to hear your arm is getting better, and looking forward to fragging you/with you in game. _________________ Under construction!!! |

I agree with everything you have said Ghoztt and I also agree with Azreal in that I hope your arm gets better but not too much better as I have a heck of a time sniping you as it is.
IMHO your comments about sniping are spot on, a sniper is very effective not just at taking out attackers or defenders but for tieing up other players who would otherwise be going after the flag.
Long live the sniper!! _________________

That proves TFC is good for you. My parents lied to me! Well hopefully I am one of those pain in the ass med/spy players that keep you rehabbing. I'll be doing my part then _________________ Yes, I'm still around

LOL....Thanks. The arm will probably get a little better...so get your kills
in while you can
TFC = good for you. More entertaining than tv, cheaper than clubs, doesn't
give you a hangover, and you get to shoot medics. |

You know I've been saying most of that for a while, now.
People are always complaining about snipers, but I just explain to them that a sniper's job is to be as big a pain in da a$$, to the nme, as possible. So if they are complaining, then I'm doing my job.
I can't expoung upon your points any better, ghoztt, so I'll just say that I agree. _________________

I'm glad TFC has had such a positive impact on your recovery!
Play more!
P.S. I hate you (the ultimate compliment for a sniper ) _________________
