Signs of a struggling power supply

Are these some of the signs of a struggling power supply?

Video is very slow
HL crashes and sound loops
RAM must be underclocked to PC66 speed when it is PC100 RAM.

I would like to know so I can get a new power supply if that is what is needed.

do you have any way to monitor your mobo voltages to see if you do anything that causes big dips or slowed fan RPMs?

Uh... those don't really sound like PSU things to me... more like just weak components... PSU symptoms seem to be more like drives having trouble spinning up, complete system shutdowns under heavy load, or maybe overheating problems if the PSU fan is dead...

That actually sounds like cruddy ram to me, especially when you have to underclock it... can you find (borrow) some micron, kingston, or samsung ram and pop it in your PC for a day or so to see how that works?

If your vid card is built in and shares ram with the rest of the system, then crappy ram could be the root of all those...

LOL, college football, not my favorite... You see, I'm from Minnesota, and the last time Minnesota had a decent college football team was sometime prior to me being alive... I'm 25 now... now college hockey is a different story... It's not like there's ever a year where 2 or more minnesota college teams aren't in the top 10

Start replacing parts... if you wonder about the PSU, borrow one from your geek friends and put it in... see how it works... make sure to get one of equal or higher watt-output. Any self-respecting computer geek will have several spares floating around, so it shouldn't be too hard to find one. If you can't find one, sweet talk the guys are your local best buy or other computer store... if they think they'll be able to sell you a PSU if their replacement works, I'll bet they let ya try one out in the store for a while. Then you go to newegg or somewhere like that and save some money... hehehe
