i dont know about others, but i konw i didnt go out lookin for some1 online. i would neva do that. i just got to know her really well and sort of progressed. for the ppl here that is neva happened to ur prolly thinkin. damn thas really sad how can u feel like that just by talkin online. but the fact is. if you meet some1 who's honest you get closer this way, as all there is to do is talk. and you talk and get real close. well thats what i found happened to me. _________________

well i met my girlfriend online and she is hot and wonderful and me and her have been together for over 6 months now. so everything with me and her is pointing towards being together for a long time.
anyhow...i think meeting people online is easier, but if you do make sure you make the transition from online to real life as soon as possible. i have met many girls from online and the ones who were reluctant to meet or who lead you on were generally fake and ones that you dont want to get involved with. anyhow...it depends on the person so don't be afraid to try it. i dont think its much more different than meeting someone in a bar or thru a friend or club or whatever. |

Negative, had no woman in mind. At least none that I am aware of. I just had a debate with a few people about "if you would meet someone online ot not." I really don't believe in them. Cybering...ugh _________________ Yes, I'm still around

Tink and grumpy are now together after meeting online at Petes. He is also the first tfc person I have ever met in person, except of course killer and tink.
He just moved across the continent so they could be together.
On the flip side my old boss internet dated a girl from Russia for 4 years with a 4 month visit at the 3 year mark, resulting in marriage. she had to go back and get paperwork settled. came back, got pregenant, dumped him and moved in with her sister and husband all in the first few months of her return. Now he has a child with a women that hates him and threatens him with taking the baby back to russia if he tells ins that they are not living together...
then of course I know lots of people who are on both sides of the relatinonship spectrum who met normally too. I don't think it's how you meet, it's just human nature to make mistakes in the affairs of the heart.
As far as internet dating for me... Im with KRG and Blue, Any dates with hotties online would have to ask my wifes permission first. _________________ Only in America......do they have drive-up ATM machines with Braille lettering. |

Well, it sounds like I might be the 'grandfather' of Internet relationships, so here is mine...
I have actually been in 2 Internet relationships.
Sometime between BBS' and 8 trillion websites and online games, there were MUDs. Some of you might even remember this one; it was called NAILS and was run from a server on the Rutgers campus. (I think it is still running, even, though I have since forgotten my p/w.)
I lived in Kansas City at the time, and met a woman from Washington state. We talked, and visited, for a couple of years, and were even engaged for about 6 months before things went south. (Could have easily have happened in r/l)
Currently, I have been w/ my girlfriend (I call her wife) for what will be 7 years on March 6th.
We spoke for about 2 years, online, before I actually came out to meet her. She lives in Massachusetts. (I think I had issues with being in the center of the country. )
So, we met close to 9 years ago, online, and the rest is history.
We have a daughter who will be 5 in January; have jobs we both enjoy; and are building a new house.
So I don't think I would ever discount an online relationship working. _________________

I don't see why you think there is any more lying online than offline, in any situation. Because, really, there's not. If someone is the kind of person that would lie online, they would lie offline just as much. |

Well I tried it, My story goes like this:
I was chatting with this girl from South Dakota for around 14 or 15 months. And never thought of it as anything more than just someone online to chat and hang out with. She always wanted to meet but I always found excuses around it as I thought it was too weird. It wasnt untill her and my roomate at the time were chatting and THEY decided that she was going to come visit me. (against my better judgement) Well she ended up coming to Chicago and spending about 5 days or so with me and We hit it off extremly well. in the next few months I would try to make the trek from Chicago to Sioux Falls SD by car, (around 9 hours or so one way) and everything seemed to be going great as she was going to transfer to a college in southern Wisconsin, which was at the time about 40 minutes from me. But in all the time we tried to hang out together things started to fall apart. Mainly because we were so far away from each other that when we would get together we spent way too much time right by each others side, and in RL you cant smother someone like that or you get a bad situation, hence it ultimatly led to the downfall. We had a pretty good falling out and dont speak much anymore even though she is still on my MSN Messenger list.
Would I do it again?? maybe but I only would do it if the said person was a close commute to me, long distance relationships just dont work whether its online or RL. _________________ Killing is my bidness ladies and BIDNESS IS GOOD!!!! |

How many people have you met online that you count among your
friends? Isn't a friendship a relationship? I guess the topic is
"romantic" relationships online, but I'm just trying to point out that
people are still people, even over a wire instead of face-to-face.
The real question you should ask is 'Do I want to get into a
LONG DISTANCE relationship?' _________________

Mmmmm, I frequent a couple of MUCKs. MUDs and their variants are
still around, so you should say 'there are', not 'there were'.
And I'm willing to bet I know more about the FuzzballMUCK server
software anyone else here. What a claim to fame. _________________

Um, mine didn't start out online, but it's been kept up by talking online, so I don't know if I really count in this. But, yeah, if both sides are willing to meet and be together in person(and they're not BSing about who they really are, i.e. a Canadian man posing as a 20-year-old American girl), I think it could work out. |
