Understand I like the mod to an extent. I like most of the tweaking to most maps. I just think it's about as balanced as the game Everquest is in this form and despise it in this current form.

in trying to reach a compromise here, I do recognize that 4 engys to a team can make for some serious imbalance (imagine 8 mg/sgs defending a cap point!). I've reduced that number to 2 engys per team on TV4 so let's see how that works out.

well, i personally do not like mg's at all, but i love the airstrikes my fav class is spy, and i'm just not having as much fun as i used 2 in tfc, bc of the mg's!!!!!
they r so unbalanced, 2 easy 2 kill ppl with......
JD - a point, if u could kill the mg's and gain a kill 4 it, like sg's, i think it would be much betta, cuase , last nite, 4 istance, i was playing, i killed nearly every single mg on the enemy team over and over again, and my score was utter shit, only because u don't get a kill 4 the mg's
mainly cause of this, i'm starting 2 change servers.....
i think everybody would like a the idea 4 a kill of the mg's, and i hope u give it some consideration JD , cause the game is just losing its fun......

Ok, cmon, a scout cannot cap cp1/5 if there is a tesla there. It will detect him as he comes up, and by the time he enters the cage, he is just a heap of smoldering ash. Youre right Cycodad, NTF does promote teamplay, but cmon, aside from us regulars, there arent many players who are willing to work as a team. This mod is only good, if it is nothing but people you know, and can work with well. Otherwise, its like trying to coach a highschool football team from other schools. And so what if mgs (particularyl teslas) wont kill in one shot. Ooooh, thats right they leave you with a whole 5hp, which means if you jump down from somewhere, or walk into a caltrop, you are dead. And wtf, it takes 3 grenades to kill a tesla. People are primarily spawned with 2, and its hard enough to even get 1 off before you die. Im just saying, if it werent for the mg's, ntf would be a perfectly fun mod.

Cycdad you said it team play is key to TFC and NeoTF.The only problem is most people have no clue how to work as a team.I used to play heavy or engie only and picked up spy because you can clear an enemy teams defense all alone allowing your "TEAM" to cap.I will now go demo/soldier at certain times if I cannot airstrike,nailgun,or grenade mgs.Even then some players even when cap is cleared do not know how to attack or refuse to because of /skill.I am very happy to hear /skill is gone gone gone Oh and munkey 2 engies is cool on ville4 but 3 hws?

there are 3 hws??? hmmm, I could've sworn I left it at 2. Will have to go revisit the configuration. thanks for the info.
*added in on 12/09: Bada, I checked the settings and there are only 2 HWs as well...

I've been following this thread and just about everybody has a valid point so I'm going to throw some more vegetables in this soup.
This is a newbies story about the Neo Mod, me being the newbie. I joined theville about 2 months ago... getting my ass kicked and owned by everybody, (I mostly played a hwguy spamming the world with my MIRV's) This being a great Llama free place to play I stuck around and then 2 weeks ago I checked my stats for the first time and I was ranked at 6052 and have a skill rating of 1167 and I owe atleast 80% of that to the mod... does that make me less skilled??? I don't think so because it made me think about the game more and made me a team player so everybody wins (except for the enemy spy's), Another interesting point is that I won the daily award for "Craftiest Engineer Award" today which is dispencer kills not NTF Mod kills. It has also given me the confidence and skill to be much better at other classes too.
I do think the NTF servers should have a 2 engi limit though.... that's my 2cents

Ask Pornstar what he thinks of the mod now. He asked for us to destroy our MG's to make it fair. My reply was "I'm proving a point as an engy." The result as an engy was 99-21. This was literally playing offense on defense by running to command 2 and priming four emps. It could've been much worse if I decided to play like a pansy for points. Point proven as I'll join the masses of having five ways to kill someone as an engy.

Everyone has there viewpoint and opinions. The MGs go down easily, They don't take 3 nades and even if they did they can't be repaired. I've taken 2 Teslas down as a HW by shooting 1 and dropping a couple nades on the other, I had more than 5 health left. I also got a SG and an Engy by keeping the coil between myself and the SG while I tossed a MIRV their way shooting the tesla.
I really don't care if you dislike the mod, but don't make stuff up or repeat stories someone else made up. Saying you don't like it because it makes things more difficult for "YOU" is valid but don't pretend everyone has a problem handling them.
I went back on TV1 today for some basic TFC and went 2 games in a row at a standstill since it was mostly newbs and no MGs were envolved. I will say the SGs are easier to take out after dealing with the MGs lately.
My only real problem with the mod is NO indication that you have destroyed a MG and the fact that it doesn't count towards your score. I'm starting to see better team play on the NTF servers than on the vanilla model The funny thing is I still see spies on Both servers...I guess some people adapt rather than complain. jk guys NUFF SAID by me.... |

After what happened tonight I am convinced that there needs to be a limit on the number of engi's for the NTF servers. I was playing avanti on theville V and there were 5 engi's, it took the attackers almost half the game to just get past cp2 and as you might guess they never made it past cp3. I love the NTF mod but I don't think it is fair with more than 2 engi's. |

Skilled players have nothing to worry about the NTF-Mod, this was proved to me painfully tonight on theville IV, 2 very skilled players by the name of "Qwest Blows" and "Stupid" they owned us 210 to 0
We would have 2 telsa's and a level 3 sg on the flag at cp1 and that would still not stop them, and they were not cheating, it got so bad that the start gate would open and I as an engi would just set up my defence at cp1, they were able to defeat the neo-mod because of thier teamwork, and they knew how to exploit some of the weakness of the neo-mod with just a medic and a scout... amazing to watch.... hats off to them.... you can beat the neo-mod, just change the way you attack |

Howdy, Snagg here. I think that the MG's, once upgraded, should count as kills for the player who upgraded them. This way, everyone except medics has a chance to get at least some no brainer kills, as the engineers do now with the SGs and MGs. Maybe a few more nades to start with would help balance out the teams on Avanti. There is the potential to not even get out of the CP 1 staging area at times. As far as neoTF goes, I think it's generally a good thing. But, there are a few things here and there, like making HW a bit faster (but that belongs elsewhere), and the thing I mentioned about the MGs. All in all, neoTF seems to make the game much more than just Capping flags and CPs. It makes you think about what you're doing, how it will help your team, and prevents much of the all out deathmatch aspect that sometimes occurs.
