If presented with an opportunity would you leave your family and friends behind for a potentially (risk/reward) situation?
I'm kinda curious because everyone seems to have an opinion when I mention it. Yes, this is a serious question not a joke.
I should setup a "help frag move" paypal fund <-- JOKE (unless you really want to give me money ) _________________ Yes, I'm still around

Hey, if you are not happy where you are and you are unable to change that, sometimes, moving on is the best thing you can do. Especially if there is a chance for bigger and better things.
It's not like you are 50 with a wife and child (sorry Gizanked). Get out there and take the chance! Just don't go become a titty dancer to survive. I don't want to see you on cops all destitute. hehehe
If you have enough support to fall back on (oh shite clause), then there isn't much to lose. I say go for it man. _________________ Recipient of POTM award

You'll never know until you try. Give it a try, and you can always move back if you hate it. _________________ I'm not internationally known, but I'm known to rock the microphone. |

Well, I am single and relatively unattached, so I was able to move with little impact. I'm glad I did now that I have done it. Of course, whether a move is a good thing has everything to do with your personal situation and why you are moving. _________________ Support wildlife. Throw a party! |

Been there, done that, still doing it. We've already discussed it and you know how I feel on the issue. For those that don't know I will spill the beans. I moved to Vegas from Ft. Lauderdale Florida about 6 years or so years ago. I came here with about $1000 in my pocket and no place to stay, kinda. I started a completely new career and stayed with a friend for about 3 months till I got stuff caught up and saved enough for my own place. Since then I have a great paying job and my own house, and a mortgage to boot. For those of you that may also be wondering the same as Frag, you can do anything you really want to do if you want it bad enough. It wasn't easy doing what I did but I wasn't going to let myself fail. What ever you do decide Frag I'm sure it will be the right decision for you. _________________

Frag you and I have also discussed this and I think you should jet for Sin City, just make sure you have some money to fall back on and I would personally try to apply for jobs and the like before moving out there, When I moved away from my parents and friends it was much easiser because I had a job immediatly.
Still cant figure out why you would want to leave this wonderful city :p

We have yapped about this several times and I think its called self satisfaction. If the opportunity is there and your not satisied with or can't change your situation at present then you gotta grab the carrot. Your lucky ythat you are single so there is no wife and kids to relocate. Ask yourself just whom pays your bills, your family or friends. Its yourself, or at least in most circumstances. The ones you leave behind are not gone so to speak they are just further away and you wont see them as offen. Its not like a lot of others did including myself when they moved to a completly different continent and knew absolutly nobody. Friends, well you can always make new ones as long as you don't pay them a VI$IT, hee hee.
The end decision is strictly yours and you have to do what is best for yourself. _________________

Im not sure that i could supply a really good answer because there isnt much information. If it was for a job? yeah i think i would, but only if it paid better than the jobs in my location. Im not leaving town for college simply because there is too much to miss out here in Iowa, For example the excellent Whitetail Deer we have here!!! heheheh |

Frag, as long as you don't have any commitments or responsibilities to family or kids, get out of your comfort zone and do it! Life is short; Don't be left sitting at your porch when you're 70 and lamenting about how you wished you had done this or that when you were younger. The luxury of youth is that we have a lifetime to try everything at least once, make mistakes doing it, and still have time to recover from them. Money is important, but don't worry excessively about it. It will be earned back in time.
I dropped everything and moved recently, but I won't bore everyone with the details here. But in a nutshell, I would gladly re-live it all over again just to relish that experience. Great rewards aren't without great risk. But when that reward is reaped, the satisfaction is beyond pleasure. |
