Personally I believe this could solve some arguements. If we had a league server then I'd probably not play on other TV servers except the neotf one, where I try not to moan at league rules (although I do moan when people don't upgrade my mgs ).

I posted this in the other thread but I think it's a really good idea and voted yes. It's probably gonna resolve a lot of tension around here.

I personally would like to play more custom maps. It seems we have a lot of standard maps, I guess that's to attract new players. I would certainly abide by whatever rules were set for that server.

I voted Yes despite what I know to be true about human nature:

1) The complaining won't stop - The people that enjoy league rules will get spoiled by league-type play on the TV5. When TV5 is full, or empty, they'll play on other TV servers [cuz this place r0x ]. They'll feel the same frustrations they feel now, and faced with Yard D and 4 HW's in the FR, they won't be able to hold their tongues.

2) The "league" server will never be full - Things will probably go well at first, but their are some very good players here, which will make us B class players feel hoplessly overmatched, so we'll head back to the mediocrity of the regular servers. There aren't enough of the 1337 players to keep the server populated.

3) The Ville image will be tarnished - There is enough turnover here that numerous n00b's and potential villuns will step onto the court on the "league" server on a regular basis. They will be kicked, banned, and cursed at by the adrenalin junkies for "ruining" their game, and they won't come back.

I voted yes, not because I would play there but so that the people that are too bored with the way the game is played in the pubs have a place to roam. I Think this is an alright Idea if those who do play in the LS play there and keep that mentality IN THAT SERVER, not bringing it with when they decide to frag on the pubs. I think that this has a 50/50 shot of being effective, my reasoning is this, if you have 30-40 regs that want to play League rules and keep the server populated then thats groovy, However my opinion (from what ive heard here and in other games/places where a league style rules are enforced) is that it will be taken too seriously and made too competitive to the point when someone wants to go in learn to play that way and might not understand the rules, comes in and asks some questions or does something thats against the rules, then they will be unfairly flamed, banned, kicked or whatever, instead of helped. which in the long run means no fresh wave of players to replace the regs who may have to quit playing for whatever reason, thus the number decrease until its there are too few people left that regularly play, No one stays around forever. Yes an argument against this is for the people to read the rules first, however like KRG said earlier, Look how many people come to Neo and dont know ANYTHING about it.

Again I think its a good Idea, as for the dividing of the Ville, Im not to worried about it. Just like everything else in life, change is needed to help maintain and grow, having a League rules server wouldnt divide up the Ville anymore than having DOD on one of the servers as long as people understand the mentality on each server is seperate, and can abide and be happy with the rules of the server they are currently playing on.

That's an excellent way of looking at it Assassin.

Treating it like a mod would make more sense and make things much easier and enjoyable for everyone. One server dedicated to league play would give these people a home here at TheVille. They would be able to play on their own server under it's own rules just as we did with DOD and still do on TheVille servers.

I do consider league play an almost entirely different game so thinking of it as a mod isn't too tough. Nice point.

TV5 has only been active for 12 days. The only reason why there are not more players on at this time (same as 1) is the players outside of The Ville community haven't discovered it yet. Some havent refreshed their lists.. or they just see nobody there so they dont join. Like all the servers previous to the new 1 and 5.. It takes months to populate on a consistant basis.

The old TV1 used to be loaded all evening and overnight. This new one just hasnt picked up fully yet, it is starting to though. Which is good. Just changing an IP makes a big difference to the people outside our community. They dont care.. they are just looking for a decent and populated server to play on.

For my opinion on the league play issue.. I believe if you want league rules go to another place and play.. I just dont understand after all this time the ville has been running this just starts now?

I was waiting for the providers of the server to comment. Silverone has and I would like to hear what Danno and Merf thing after all it is there server and the end decision should be up to them and Robert.

I will not vote either way on this issue for several reasons :

1. the ville has been based on fun playing and that is what has attracted such a large membership of both experienced and non experienced players. People come here to learn and have fun.

2. Imagine this, someone that is simply popping into a server and they are unfamilar with the ville as a whole ends up the league server. He gets his a$$ kicked all over the place what is his next step. It will be "I'm outa hear these guys are to good for me". Hes gone and never to be found again unless he accidently pops into one of the fun servers. Are we prepared to risk losing potentically a lot of really nice guys in the future?

3. If we do indeed have a league server I would suggest that it be made very clear that there are other servers at the ville that one can join if they only want to learn and have fun. How do you do that?

4. The inevitable bickering that would result from league rules. He did this she said that. Do we really want to hear that crap?

5. On the other hand the ville has to grow and prosper, us old farts will not be around forever. The only way to do that is to have a atmosphere that will attract players to come and play on the servers. The trick here is to make sure they come back and end up being a fixture here. How do you do that? There is only one way, make sure that there gaming experience is enjoyable for them. If you want to learn then great this is the place. If you only want to have fun great its here. If you like league great its here as well.

In closing, if there is a league server created then it would be an idea to let it be know that this is a trial and subject to change as the patrons see fit.

The problem with league servers is as soon as there is no admin around the mice come out to play however they feel like playing.Then even more fighting ensues IMO.If it fills a otherwise dead server cool the server providers must hate seeing thier server empty with the time and money involved running one.I still say if you want league play join a clan most clans practice/play matches at least twice a week.If that doesn't satisfy your needs go play on league servers but don't whine about turling,chasing, and spamming on a pub server that doesn't have those rules it really makes you sound like a little crybaby and a whiner Any of you who play in leagues know if you have 5 on 5 theres 3 on D,7 on 7 theres 4 on D,9 on 9 theres 5 on D do you bitch turtle no its called D yay.So when I'm in a 20 person game and theres 6 on D myself included usually I play D and I hear turtle/camper it makes me laugh it is called D not camping or turtling TFC is ctf based should we just let you walk in and grab the flag so our team loses and you can have a perfect score ummm no I don't think so
