Hi, I was wondering if anybody is willing to setup a server during the day that is strictly running "Fox Bots". I've been hearing some of you mention that you would like to learn other classes from the pro's here. Well, the reason that I posted this is, all of the villes servers have a limit of two snipers per team so it is kind of hard to get in a game playing this class muchless learn anything while constantly getting your head blown off by the pro's or other classes

I know that a server dedicated to just bots is a big request to ask ? But I think it would be a good idea especially for noobs/pros alike who are wanting to learn new classes or just get better at what they already play.

So, in the meantime does anybody know of any servers that are strickly just bots?

what would setting up this server involve. I don't know much about the whole dedicated server thing, but my room mates comp is usually free since he is busy being deployed right now. It's hooked up to my LAN, so would this cause any issues with me getting on with mine?

Azrael, I don't think it would require much but a Broadband connection, The Bot's, and a computer to do it? Anybody out there know the 411 on this issue please contribute. I appreciate you wanting to help Azrael Thank you! SpeCies

well, if that's all it requires, then there really shouldn't be a problem with doing it. That is, as long as my room mate says I can use his computer. I went and tried out a bot prog and it works fine I guess. Except that the sniper bot I made kept hiding behind the turrets, so I had to go hunt him down. Let me confer with my roomie, about using his comp, it might take a few days cause he's on ship and I can't call him or anything, email's the only way.

{EDIT} until then, I can put my machine up for bot training starting tomorrow for a couple of days. I am going for surgery and won't be able to play until a few days after I get out of hospital. I'f this sounds good, let me know what info you guys need, as well as what I need to do, i.e. server name, maps, bot levels, things like that

{EDIT part deux} This is something I just thought about. would I need to put that HL guard stuff on the machine? I have no clue on how to work that stuff, but you never know, maybe someone would want to cheat on a training server

Why not just install the bots on your computer Species, and then create a LAN game? You plug away at those dummies all day. There was also a thread in the forums at one point on how to set up an artificial lag so you can practice at the same ping that you normally get on your fav server.

Better yet, why not get on a a *gasp* different server that happens to be open and practice there. There are a bazillion n00b servers that have 16 slots open for sniper. Granted they aren't the Ville, but if all you want is practice, best play against people, and not bots.

That is a thought Wood. TY Well, and you are right <Gasp> there are a gizillion of noob servers that are open during the day I know. But no, they are not "Ville servers", and I rarely play anywhere else. Besides, the bots do not teach you, or assist you with the various techniques of a new class like another player would.

ok maybe you could try this one. It's called FREEDOM TFC (don't watch the language out there cause it's all swearing you hear from the bots)

they always play deathmatch type of maps so it's a good place to learn to snipe. Most of the day there aren't any players on exept the bots.

name: FREEDOM TFC
ip: 68.50.97.131

have fun.

I just went to check out the Freedom-TFC- server, and I have one thing to say. Sheer insanity!! I didn't even hit the ground before I got sniped!! I don't know whether the guys/bots (whatever) I was playing against were that good, or there was just that many of them. That and since the maps were mainly DM maps I noticed there wasn't a whole lot of movement going on. I mean, since there's no flag to get, it was anyone's guess as to where people were going, hmmm, I can see how that might help a new sniper learn the ropes. I do however think that the low-grav might not be the best training tool. I mean, we can't have the kids getting used to nice easy floating targets, can we?
