Does that make the letters , A and B, the same shade of white or grey?

It may help not to look at the two squares marked but look just below "A" and see the shadow as it falls across that square. You can just make out that the fade in is to the same darker grey... has anyone thought about where this picture came from?

the two squares are the same shade, its the fact that a is beside a lighter color that makes it look darker and the b is beside darker shades that make it look lighter, the letters themselves also paly into the illusion by taking the color from around the block and moving it in.. cut and paste some stuff in a pic editor program e.g photoshop and you'll see. its the shades they are aroudn that make them look different.....

http://library.thinkquest.org/50065/psych/effects.html

This might make things a little easier to understand for you 'color perception challenged' persons.

If that doesn't help, buy the book "ITTEN: The Elements of Colour"

I work for Texas Instruments DLP (Digital Light Processing) we make a device called a DMD (Digital Micromirror Device) that is used in board room projectors and some Cinema projectors. The latest Star Wars showed in quite a few places on DLP Digital Cinema. This is something we deal with all the time.

The human eye is terrible (if not incapable) at absolute color determination, but your eye is incredibly good at detecting color discontinuites (i.e. a block of gray immediately adjacent to another block of gray that is only a few RGB points different) In this case your eye immediately sees a line (or edge) where the discontinuity is!

Any questions class? Actually I had to take a two day (16 hr course) in the way the human image system works. GOOD STUFF!!

Well lets replace the squares with naked blonde and brunette women...
Now after close inspection does their hair color match?

Who cares they are naked!

Twisted, I would love to help you get a job, but as you know right now things are tough. We just had another small cut here. I am a Physicist masquerading as an Engineer, but am not a manager.

When times are a little better, they do sort of take recommendations from the engineering staff for new hires.

Are you out of a job right now? If so, I am sorry to hear it and hope that you find something soon. *looks for the crossed fingers emoticon*
