I remember when we used to check our skill level and a lot of people worked pretty hard to be number 1 and stuff. Your going to get more cons if you put the old school one up versus the new school one. I'm up to anything now because at this point I really don't care for my stats to be number 1 anymore like the old school days

But you see people will care about their own individual statistics versus their team and what not. People will work harder to strive to that number 1 spot because they want to see their names highlighted every week and stuff. I bet you anything a lot more people will play but their style of play will differ. The award section is a great one to bring back imho. I own the award section no doubt LoL

I remember the old way and didn't like the gameplay here. I started playing here permanently when it was the new skool way because the game play was more team oriented then. The only thing I check stats for anyways is to see what weapons are being more effective for me. The awards thing was cool to.

New Skool style, but with awards. I'm a reformed stat phreak myself. Always hogged the bags and screamed "DANGIT" when i got killed. It really held me back.

Also.....

I wanna see if anyone can top my 538+ SG kills in a day award.

I'm not a fan of the old-style skill ratings. It encourages some negative play, and I believe it caused a fair amount of arguments before I even started playing TFC (I will stand to be corrected). I did, however, like seeing the daily awards page.

I'm totally split on this one.
I liked the old way because that was what brought me here to the ville in the first place (along with flankattack). However I've also been around long enough to see what stats can do to the way people play (myself included).
On the other hand, the new school way mentioned has little point other than to enable admins to search out won ids.

New way with awards (or even just player of the week) would be nice....maybe with un-announced weapons modifiers that change each week.

New School sounds perfect. All I have ever heard from people is how they all used stats to better themselves by checking their weaopn stats etc etc. There is no need for rankings in those cases. Old school just reminds me of the race for "who is number 1" and we know that's what this game is all about. - sarcasm. . . .

At least no POTW.

But that's just my opinion. Whatever makes everyone happy, their only stats and sisnce I pay no attention to them anyway, it's not a big deal to me. Just please, no more stats whores striving for POTW.

i also like the awards. other than them thins i dont really mind. cos li dont take much notice anyway. i just like to c how im doin with me k 2 d every now n then. and is neva effected me game. i just play for fun

I'm kind of partial to the revised old school that we had for a while, where you got points for caps and SG kills. That really seemed to pick up the pace of the games. Plus you still had all the daily awards if someone wanted to run around swinging a crowbar all day.

Sure, you ended up with statwhores, but that bred a whole subculture of people who loved to hunt the statwhores for sport! And there will always be those who don't give a damn about the stats. So it kind of offers a little something for everyone.

One thing that would be nice would be a stat-free server like we used to have. You could always count on that server for a wild game of Murderball or a crowbar war.
