Cordless or just optical?? Or both?? I have a Sony optical w/cord and it's great. I've never had any cordless mouse so I am without opinion on those.

If you play a lot games cordless is not the way to go. It is slower that the wired mice and will decrease you accuracy.

But for normal applications http://www.microsoft.com/hardware/mouse/wie_info.asp is a very good one.

UNLESS you get the Logitech MX-700 cordless optical USB mouse. The report rate is great, the resolution is escellent and the speed is quite good also.

CAVEAT - they are still working to make a mouse driver that will correctly hand MOUSE4 & MOUSE5 to the game(s). You can have it hand <SHFT> and <CTL> but it is not exacly what you expect. I have one and LOVE it! Some of the stuff on the Logitech website is marketing hype, but it is still a very nice mouse.

Oh it is rechargable - has its own cradle and holds a charge for a LONG time!

I have been using one for a bout a month now!

Always go for the optical. Balls are in the past, but getting a cordless or not is the decision. Here's what i would choose for each.

w/ cord: http://www.compuvisor.com/logopmouswhe.html (nice ergonomic design)

w/o cord: http://www.logitech.com/index.cfm?page=products/details&CRID=3&CONTENTID=4979&countryid=19&languageid=1

Man, it is all about the track ball. You should chk out microsoft or logitech on their latest track ball mices. Track balls is what I use but if your not used to that whatever floats your boat is cool.

if i were you i wouldn't go for the coordless one. For the moment they aren't good enough, they still need to work on the speed. But with an opticol with a wire you can't go wrong. It's really easier to move aaround without the ball. I'm working with the wheel mousse optical from microsoft and haven't had any problems with it for now.

OOPS! one too many zeros. The MX-700 really is a significant improvement over earlier cordless mice.
