Ok, playing tonight with it being the Villes birthday i guess it replaced some of the models for the grenades with gift boxes. It also randomly displays a quote every couple of minutes. While this was fun on the Ville tonight. When I played on a public server afterwards, THE PRESENT MODELS AND QUOTES WERE STILL THERE! Does anyone know how I can restore everything back to normal? (No quotes, and no present box grenade models-->Everything back in order)

Birthday presents etc. = fun mode.

Fun mode = server mod like chicken mod etc. (I think)

doesn't actually change your models for grenades. It just must have been another server with fun mode on.

IMHO fun mode = lag mode.

Today is Team Fortresses birthday. All of the servers run this mod today. It's automatic, and it can't be cut off. TF (not TFC) is 6 years old.

It was originally released as a Quake mod, and the developers who now work for Valve (Robin Walker & John Cook) celebrate very year by automatically turning this "birthday mod" on.

That was your history lesson for today boys and girls.

If you're bored, you can browse tfc\dlls\tfc.dll with a hex or text editor to read all of the 'birthday' messages. (specially since they seem to get
cut-off in game)...

I...er...opened it in Word and got 188 pages of this:

Quote:
)#*&#&#^*W&@&
and heaps of boxes and Chinese/Japanese symbols.

The models were cool though. I love birthdays

The messages are toward the end of the DLL. I don't
think Word really knows how to deal with a file that might have
arbitrary 8-bit characters in it... hmm. Well, for anyone that
might be curious, here they are in plain text:
