hey hey...So, I am reading this amazing book, maybe you've heard of it, "Cocaine: An Unauthorised Biography" its by Dominic Streatfield. I got it yesterday at the library, and I cannot put it down!

And now for a frighteningly true Cocaine Factoid!

There is one problem with drugs and cocaine in paticular. They are fun.
At first your having a blast and everything is going great. Then after a indeterminate amount of time it changes and fun turns to pain and by that time the pain is a desirable feeling. Weird but true.

Everyone is different on how they handle drug use, some should obviously not have ever started and others can enjoy a good time without alterting there life style. Some make it a life style. As in all things some will die from it.

Whatever you do dont let the federal or state goverment latch on to you,
they have a growing industry of tax dollar supported anti drug movements.
From jails to guys to kick your door down. they only get bigger and demand more money to fight drugs.

I don't remember anything from the surgey except the cocaines unique drip.Injecting coke into the vertibra of your spine as an Anesthesia sounds
more like a Epidoral then a pleasure ??

i've never dun drugs and im never gonna

i dont even smoke, i think thats just stupid...

the only thing i do is occationally go out n have a few drinks with friends... well its never only a few but i dont go out drinkin that often

Don't do drugs kids, because then you go to prison, and drugs are very very expensive in prison.

The lousy thing about drugs is that the more money you spend on drugs, the less money you have to spend on prostitutes. (And remember kiddies, you don't pay a prostitute for the sex. You pay her to leave when it's done.)

oh man, some great responses to this thread.

A doctor in Massachusetts I believe, figured out why Cocaine is such a dangerous drug. When your brain feel pleasure, it releases dopamine. This is then picked up by the receptors, and then recycled, and you no longer feel great. What cocaine does is to block these receptors for a time, so your brain produces more and more dopamine, and you feel really great. The problem is, once your brain has experienced that kind of pleasure, everything else gets the pleasure volume turned down a couple notches, even cocaine. Added on to this, the cocaine users dopamine levels are way lower AFTER he/she uses it than they were before, so in order to get the same high, he/she has to do more cocaine, more often. Thus the cycle continues.

Cocaine is so terribly addictive, that in a study on animals, they gave a monkey access to cocaine when he pressed a bar. Each time he got cocaine it would take more presses of the bar to get more. At the end of this study, the monkey pressed the bar approximately THIRTEEN THOUSAND TIMES!

just for ONE dose. Thats how dangerously addictive this drug is.
