Hey Villens as you may have noticed in the last 2 months some of our game servers are gone and this website is being hosted on a slower connection. Thanks goes out to Bufford and NJK for helping to fill in the gaps also we should thank LamaBeans, Albino Gibbon and Warhammer for continuing to provide the game servers we have all played on for so long.
I have been trying to think of ways to bring back more servers (running 24/7 including a neo server) and to get this website back on a fast connection. Well the true fact is that those things cost money and it's really too much to ask a single person to pay for.

The idea I'm about to propose is just an idea right now, I/we are not saying this is going to happen. I just want to see if there is any interest in this.

How much time do you spend at The Ville and on the game servers? If your like most of us that's at least 1 to 3 hours per/day which is between 30 to 90 hours a month. That's alot of recreation for something that does not cost you anything.
One trip to the movie theatre including refreshments you buy there is at least $10.00 and usually much more.

The Ville is free for all to use and as far as I know always will be but we have the power to make it bigger and more powerful if we share the costs as a community. Like I mentioned The Ville will always be free but for those who donate to help $upport it they could be rewarded for their kindness.

The number I'm playing with is $10.00 per/month paid in six months blocks.
These are some of the rewards I think The Ville will be able to offer you for your support (not to mention more game servers and faster website)

Benefits

1.) email address e.g. yourname@theville.org
2.) reserved name on the servers (protect your game name from being used by a llama imposter)
3.) no ads or banners on this site (only supporters would not see the banners)
4.) limited access to admin commands e.g. admin_mapvote, admin_funmode etc...
5.) cool supporting avatar for the forums
6) first pick at any HLTV matches we have
7.) your name on The Ville Supporters Page
8.) Private access to once a month Ville Supporters Match (like TVB night)
9.) True names of all and any future KILAAKS
10.) special in game tag e.g. yourname-V$-
11.) reserved playing spot on the game servers

So once again this is just an idea so there is no need to flame this thread if you do not like this idea.
Please feel free to post your thoughts and ideas and don't forget to vote... Thanks.

I think that would be a good idea. 10 dollars sounds reasonable and the benefits are very cool. The main one i would want out of those would be the reserved server spots. Another thing to add maybe would be free web hosting like TVB members get.

I am desperatly trying to get money right now, so I couldn't really help. The bonuses for those that do sound cool, except for the reserved servers spots. You get 50 people who donate and you have at least 2 severs filled with reserved spaces, so it's not really a pub anymore. Just my 2 cents.

Good point VP, but 50 x $60.00 = $3,000
We could get at least two new servers and leave a couple un-reserved, also more servers equals less full servers so the chances of not being able to get on are even smaller.

There is a chance that we could lose one or two of our servers at anytime which would fill up our remaining servers thus really making it possible for servers to be to full to get on.
I'm not trying to scare anybody with that statement but the more servers we have the less impact we'll feel if we do lose any.

Also all the numbers and benifits I mentioned are still up for discussion.

p.s. I like the idea about giving some webspace too, even if at the very least all you do with it is store your pics there that would be convienent, also clans could build there website there too.

I think it is a great idea. There are many people who cannot do it, but for those who can and want to, it is a great package. And, I agree that Web space would be a great addition! The 'Ville has given so much to me and this would be a way for me to give something back.

good idea. why should we do it? It's not that much money.

So i would have no problems supporting the ville, because if you think about it, most of us play here a lot.

of course i know that not everybody can pay 10.00$ a month but if some of us would do it, I think the ville would be helped a lot.

Killer and I are in.
Payment methods need to include a place to send a check, I'm not liking paypal.

I think having a Ville server big enough for web space and such will/would
be a real asset.

There are only 2 reserved slot on the servers, and if the server is not full a reserved player does not use a reserved slot. That would only come into play when the server is at 22/24, and no more public people are allowed in. If you have a reserved spot you could join as the 23rd player.

Good idea Ktulu I've never thought it fair that the users receive this type of service for nothing. When I sit back and consider the countless hours of entertainment I've had and so many others have had as well at no cost $10/mt is nothing. PROVIDED I/we have access to certain servers when I/we choose.
One other thing is that the maps should rotate on a weekly basis. New or different stuff, ideas, themes, etc maintains the interest level, but thats for further discussion.

I am up for this and think it is a good idea. I think having the money will open up options to us, like testing out new mods(DoD 3.0) and other online games (America's Army, Warcraft3, etc.). Giving webspace to new clans is cool, too. I have always love the fact and idea of clans forming and getting their start here. TheVille is a breeding ground for such things.

10 bucks? I'd go 20 bucks if I could get some of that TVB webspace to post pics from.

Whatever the final decision or the final cost count me in. I can certainly afford it and would like to do anything I can to help. I honestly probably play a good 20 hours a week and that's not a lot to ask for that much fun. #Scatter #Scatter #Scatter

Hoaxie is making the avatar right?

hmmm its a good idea and all but...

They do have hosting services that will host a site for about 150 bucks/yr ... that and I don't feel the urge to pay for a T1 so one of the admins can really make me look da fool

Which brings me to the point of people who host thier own server. Lets start with the fact you need a PC to run on its own and keep all the unwanteds from screwin with the site. Then there's connection cost and time and labor of setting the damn thing up and well.. its a world of hell I've sat through half of it before and it really makes ya --->

as for game servers.. no idea how much one of them would cost or if the're even rentable... so I'll keep my mouth shut on them

so if you didn't read the rest... you suck ... if you did.. good for you ..

Its a good idea and all ... but ya know.. it seems scary

oh and VP I'm sure most of the reserved slots will be more of a .... hey I gotta eat for 10 minutes hold a slot for me thing or hey my cars on fire reserve a slot while I pretend this fire extinguisher will fix it
