I'd cut and paste but i have so many scripts that people wouldn't understand most of my config. I use wasd, Because i need all the keys in the area. I used to use arrows. Way back when, i used arrows for back, forward, and turning, and 1 and 2 on the keypad for strafing... 4 and 5 were nades. I didn't have enough keys so i took out turning and made arrows as my strafe, and then i realised i still didn't have enough so i switched to wasd, because i needed to use toss flag, toss pack, call medic, weapon switching, everything like that on the fly.

And (god forbid), i agree with goldom, though mouse3 is my special skill as mouse2 is jump. Also i have a script which lets you do the previnv as though it was a number key; meaning, i don't need to watch the gui open and hit fire while using it, it just switches.

I use the default controls, with a couple additions. V for detdispenser, keypad for text commands, and those gray buttons above the arrows for demo recording. And finally a few random keys for random purposes (i.e. godmode, kill, addbot, etc.)

V for detdispenser

Back in the days when i used to play Engy (yes there were those days) i had my detdisp as E and i still do. It makes its explosion almost immediately someone touches it or if i see them get near it because itz RIGHT next to my UP key (W) where my left hand always is, however due to this fact I no longer have a “use” key which is what E used to be (and I didn’t realize it until I once played on Hunted as the VIP and couldn’t get down the elevator..hehe), so could someone tell me what the use command is? I have to bind it to another key: bind l “use command”
use command=?

I pretty much just use the default keys (wasd for movement, space for jump, ctrl for crouch)

a s d f, for my home keys, what do you know they are the typing home keys too...how natural.

space and b are jump/ crouch making a easy one thumb press to get both.

With all the other keys around, its easy to have all your keys within reaching distance without lifting your hand away from key board or letting go of the mouse.

Works for me but maybe not you.

Roof, I recommend using the WASD format basically, because you use one finger (middle) to control both forward and back movements. Therefore freeing up a finger to perform another task.

I've never understood those scripts, they do the same freaken thing as hud_fastswitch 1. With hud_fastswitch 1, when you hit 1-5 it doesn't shot the vgui menu, it just selects the weapon. Better than the script even, because you can switch to crowbar on the fly too

The hud_fastswtich is just cosmetic...

If you dont use it, you still change between weapons just as fast, you just dont see the other weapon until the animation finishes. Try it sometime, you can pull out anothe weapon and shoot it before it pops up on your screen (without hud_fastswitch)

For numbers.

It's different when using invprev and invnext or whatever. My script just does invprev; +fire; wait; -fire, so it switches with the mouse wheel and fires once and pulls the weapon out.

All these different key setups, I haven't got a clue which one to switch to.

I think I'm going to keep my setup as it is, until the FNF has been played anyway.

Then I think I'm going to start experimenting with a few different setups until I find one that is easy to use, which I'm comfortable with.

^^This effort is really tiring^^

hehehehe

I just use the default settings with minor adjustments. I swapted the grenade buttons and added a few of the specials, det disp and build spec. Also had to add my binds, I love them so .
