I am considering getting warcraft III, but I am not sure. I know the game is great, but I don't know how well it will run on my system.
I have:
FIC VA-503+ mobo
AMD k6-2 500 mHz
20 gig hard drive
geforce2 MX400 64 meg sdr video card
win98se
updated directx
I just want to know if it will run smoothly on my system. I have heard mix opinions on it and would like to know what people's experiences are. I don't want to spend $60 on a game that I may not be able to play well. _________________ I need to make a sig, but I don't have the time. Maybe I will eventually. |

Borg,
You didn't say how much RAM you have, but I would imagine 128 or more. It looks like you meet all the minimums, but not what they recommend. I don't have the game at work, but I think the box said they recommend a 600 mhz processor, and 256 ram. Just to give you an idea, here is what I am using to run the game, and I have had no problems at all. It has run very smooth, and been a lot of fun.
My machine:
Athlon 900
512 Mb RAM
32 MB Geforce 2 GTS
WinXP Professional
20 gig HD
My biggest advantages over you would be processor speed and RAM (maybe?).
I have not changed any of the defaults that the game uses, such as the the video and sound. I left them on the high settings, and no problems for me. It doesn't slow down or anything of that sort.
Hope this helps you out. _________________ Been chasing since May 2001!

TFC is less graphic intensive. If your having trouble running TFC smoothly then I don't think warcraft3 will be any better. _________________ The most hated.

Well, my friend hasn't had any problems running it on his machine from 98, but he has lots of ram, so I think lots of ram probably is important for Warcraft III.

Well, let's see here. (Grabs box.)
Recommended: 600 MHz, 256 MB of RAM, 32 MB 3D video card, DirectX 8.1 compatible sound card.
Requirements: 400 MHz, 128 MB of RAM, 8 MB 3D card, 700 MB HD space, 4x CD-ROM, and DirectX 8.1 card.
So, I think you should be all right. You should probably lower the resolution though, cause of your card. It may have some slowdown like on mine, but you should run okay for most of the game. _________________ http://www.chronixradio.com |

The thing you're going to want is a good graphics card and alot of RAM for WarCraft3. Unless you want to run it on minimal graphic settings you should have at least the minimum to get the best experiance from it without lagging and jerking around.
Requirements:
Windows® 98/ME/2000/XP:
400 MHz Pentium II or equivalent
128 MB of RAM
8 MB 3D video card (TNT, i810, Voodoo 3, Rage 128 equivalent or better) with DirectX® 8.1 support
700 MB HD space
4X CD-ROM drive
Recommended:
600 MHz processor
256 MB of RAM
32 MB 3D video card
DirectX® 8.1 compatible sound card
Multiplayer:
Low-latency, active Internet connection rated at 28.8 Kbps or faster. LAN play requires TCP/IP connection. _________________ World of Warcraft:

I ended up not getting it yet since I don't know how it will run, I am going to see about testing it using the disk from someone else that I know. I wish blizzard would release a demo for people like me. lol _________________ I need to make a sig, but I don't have the time. Maybe I will eventually. |
