For anyone who cares, here's the latest update on my war with my cable modem. Tonight, faced with a 1000+ ping to the Ville servers, I finally gave in and stuck a regular modem back in my computer, to see if it would be any better. Here's a comparison of my ping times to Ville III, taken about two minutes apart:
cable modem: approx. 1050 ms
49k dial-up: approx. 175 ms
Grrrrrrr!!!!!!! If it weren't for the killer bandwidth of the cable modem, it would be out the window. But even with the crap latency, it still destroys the dial-up for sheer download speed. Please Santa, give Thom a quality DSL provider for Christmas . . .

DSL for direcTV, now your talking about high latency! Sure it's fast but because you are bouncing a signal off of a satellite the delays are rediculous.

Wrong, I'm selling DSL via the phonelines like normal DSL. They do services for DSL via the lines and also a seperate division for satellite. I only sell the phoneline DSL.

Why would anyone want to buy DSL service that will sneak up from behind and stab them in the back? I'll sign up, but be warned that we run the NeoTF mod here and WILL have an MG waiting.
