Robot training

I heard someone mention that you could download robots to play TFC with offline. Does anyone know of a place where I could get me some of these slaves?

There are a few different bots. The one I've messed with is the HPB_bot, which you can get at www.planethalflife.com/botman/.

It's not the most user-friendly thing to configure, but if you know how to bind a key, you can set up a bot. The bots can be completely boneheaded and frustratingly tough at the same time. At higher skill levels, they don't miss. But don't expect any degree of intelligence from them . . . the Spies won't disguise, they won't work as a team, and so on.

Oh, and you can customize their names, logos, and chat messages, which is a blast for at least 15 minutes, maybe more.

Thanks Thom, but I think the ones at the link you gave me are only for HL. I tried setting them up in TFC but nothing happened. I only have CS and the other MODs that come with it, so I can't use the bots at the link you gave me. Does anyone know of any that work for TFC?

Maybe I am just hardheaded and couldn't find the right ones, so if you could point me in the right direction it would be helpful.

Monk, did you run the batch file in the HPB_bottfc folder? You have to run a separate install for TFC, which only takes a few seconds. From there, you should be able to start a LAN game and the bot(s) will join. You have to mess with the config file to set things like bot skill level and so on. Let me know how it works out.

I didn't do that before, thanks. Unfortunately now that I have tried it, it says:

"Team Fortress 1.5 NOT installed <or is an unknown directory>

Installation unsuccessful!"

I don't know what it is talking about since TFC is installed. Could it be because I have CS instead of HL?
