While rooting around my pc for trash to delete, I found a nice folder named Cabs on the root of my drive. Now I'm not sure if this is supposed to be here in this unusual location or if it was dumped there to quicken the install process when I reinstalled windows through my restore CD. It dumped other setup files and scripts and I wonder if it dumped that there too. Any input would be helpful.

P.S. This is not a cabs folder located under my Windows directory, its right on the root of my drive. It is full of mostly zipped files and install programs.

usually when you buy a preinstalled computer thats where they dump the cab files from your windows cd why they do that.. it makes it easier to install new software that would require the windows cd so now intstead of you haveing to insert the cd it just reads the cab files from that folder and carrys on like you wouldnt notice... whats the benifit? if you dont know computers thats the way to go.. less tech phone calls.. whats the cons? if you do know computers.. get rid of that man it eats your hard drive you could install another game with that much space... if you have your windows cd i wouldnt worry about any deleted cabs their the same ones that are on the cd if not then you might have a problem if you try to install something that requires drivers from your windows cd (like say you yank your tcp/ip and then reinstall it.. itll ask for the cd no matter what) so basically if you have your install cds then delete it if you dont then dont delete them (i bet you dont have them since a little known fact that when you buy a preinstalled pc it comes with those programs installed but they dont give you an install cd for it so if you ever format you lost it so you didnt actually get the programs that you paid for now did you?)

Actually when you buy a preinstalled PC it comes with a restore disc that has all the programs on it from when you first recieved your PC, at least every one I've purchased has. Just a notation.

well my pre-built pc came with a recovery CD

ya i got a pre-built comp -- i got it around 3/4 years ago n i didn't know nothing back then so i just got on from pc-world

n i use my recovery disk all the time -- cos my comp is so crap -- it keeps getting extreamly clogged up n runns very slow after a few months n its easier to throw the recovery cd in and get my comp's original state back than trying to delete all the crap that builds up.
