This is good stuff for every connection! Dial-uppers, pay close attention!
Would you play TFC or any other game with an IM open and running?
You shouldn't, it adds to your lag whether you are messaging or not.
Would you play TFC or any other game with Morpheus or another P2P software running? That's a lag monster as well.
Now, these things are easy to avoid by simply turning them off. Problem solved. But what about the programs you don't know are running? They are there. . . lurking in your hard drive. . .sucking up resources. . .like a parasite. The worst part is, these programs could be doing a lot more than you would think.
Anyway, I found this little gem after reading about all the spyware that is unknowingly d-loaded from places like Morpheus, Limewire, Kazaa, etc. These are unsolicited "tracking" programs that not only invade your privacy but lag out your system. I say. . .NUKE 'EM ALL!
I want to see if anyone can top my record for "parasites found"! I stand at 23 found the first day I installed it! Read about it first before you d-load it.
Ad Aware
Death to lag!
This message has been brought to you by the Foundation for Building a Better Foundation and the makers of Charmin, wipe that lag away! |

Tomorrow I shall install my GForce3 vid card w00t! With my system somewhat cleaned and better graphics, I should get the drop on a few peeps I owe @sswoopage to! |

JEESUS!
I run ad aware whenever I install new software, and I usually only have like 6-8 items and 9 times out of 10 they're just cookies. I am very very paranoid about what is running and what is ON my computer. I am religiously making sure my startup is only what I want/need, and I check my taskmanager all the freakin time to make sure I know whats running.
Qucik question, little off topic, anyone know what SVCHOST.exe is? I have about 8 of them running most of the time, and i know they are at least semi-important to windows, cuz when I try to shut em down it yells at me that they are "Vital System Programs" or something, and then I have to restart
You guys need to keep an eye on your comps! _________________ I WAS (back in august of 02) just better than you, thats all.

I frequently scan my machine using Adaware, and I always always always get this one single cookie call me@fastclick[1].txt What is this, and how do/can I stop it from appearing? My cookie settings (IE6) are Enable First-Party, Block Third-Party.
Also, try http://www.blkviper.com/WinXP/strangeservice.htm for some more information on pointless programs running in the background.
If you sniff around, you will find some very useful information about all your services, for example editing your services.msc properties.
One other thing - oh man! Look at the crap you all have on your machines! If you have a reasonable amount of time in your hands, go visit http://www.cexx.org/ for some help in getting rid of some of that trash without ruining your machine. (That Fasttrack thing I was asking about is probably there too, but I'll look into that later ) |

Just so you know, if you use kazaa and run this program. When you reopen Kazaa it doesn't work. _________________
