when I'm not playing online i don't care what i got up 320MB ram should be able to cope with that -- but as soon as i go to play online i close most of em down -- especially kazaa -- that slowes my connection down so much
i normally keep kazaa running in the background so it can d/l stuff while I'm doing other things
[EDIT: their has been one or two occasions though were I've forgotten to close/disconnect kazaa n i lagged so bad -- i always close it completely first now] _________________

Updated ZoneAlarm and Updated Norton 2002.
ZA Stops most anything, except what I tell it to allow. Very very nice program if you ask me. And Norton, well, I managed to acquire a 1 year subscription as well as a free copy of the program while at OSU
I run Virus scan at LEAST once a week and usually update it 2-3 times a week. Ever since I got that f-in Klez virus, I am hyper paranoid about virus protection. That thing royally f-ed me up...
Oh, and for anyone that uses Outlook Express, I would like to issue a warning...Turn off the Preview Pane. Thats how I got infected. The program was autodownloaded via the preview pane. I didn't even have to open the attachment, it did it itself.
Glad to see you are virus free Bobins! _________________ I WAS (back in august of 02) just better than you, thats all.

ya me too -- i hate viruses -- my school network got a virus a few months ago cos when they were updating stuff they had to take the firewalls down -- the system was f'ed for around a month -- as each terminal would house the virus as well as the main school server -- so if one machine was forgot about and then turned on when the others had been cleaned it would re-spread throught the whole system -- me and the other 6th form A-Level computing students even had to help sort the system out cos the computing teachers just had way too much to do. it was a nightmare -- thats a reason why in fairly carfull woth my comp -- n i scan once a week n i got auto check 4 updates on so i know im uptodate
n when ya d/l the e-mails to outlook express norton virus auto scanns them during the dowload so me having the preview window up shouldnt effect me _________________

I have the whole McAfee Security Center thing with Virus Scan Online and it works great. It updates itself every other day as well.
I also have a BlackICE Firewall and it works OK for me, I don't know why you guys have anything against it. It serves its purpose. |
