In the middle of playing tonight I got a messege from my firewall that
bb2-p14-0.hrndva.sbcglobal.net
was trying to send a ICMP packet to my system. This is the first time that I have ever had this happen. Sooooo, I started reading about this type of packet and found that it is a hacker tool.
Is there any way to trace this person down? Am I right about this type of Packet? Please if you read this please post your comments. I have posted it for everyone so that maybe we all can learn somthing.
Thank you in advance.
BUC

Oh here is there IP address 151.164.243.22

Can you be more specific in the type of ICMP messages, or what you were doing online? Were there more than one packets, or just one?

ICMP generally is just a ping from another node. It is considered hacking and is blocked by a lot of firewalls. Could just be nothing other than that..... Or someone is in your comp j/k

Try reporting the incident to this person's isp - also give as much info as you can - and the log from your firewall too. Here's a pretty picture

Thank you so much.
I am using Tiny Personal Firewall (TPF). This is on my home network and it is free. I guess that is why it is free. That is all the info that it gave. Thank you so much for your help. The only thing I was doing was playing TFC. I read a bunch last night and was more confused the more I read.
Thanks Again,
BUC

Hey Mike,
I think that I will take advantage of the Zone alarm option in my router also. I am at work right now and checking our FW to see if it has any of these featers. I am not finding any thing of use. We use raptor and Cisco. Its amazing that we have invested 1000's of dollers and there is no tracking software built in to them. They do every thing else but track.
thanks everyone.

It's not an option you must by the software first. You can download it.

Yea, I got on the phone with our rep. I got our secutiy admin at work involved with this. I am a junior admin. Can't do any thing with out the seinour guys being involved (which is a good thing). We need this kind of stuff in place. Our PIX is very limited to the capblities of HW. It only does packet scans mostly. Rapture seems to be more versatile (spelling). This is great info. Thinks agian everyone. As for my home network I think I am going to down load zonealrm pro. Also I down loaded the visual ware stuff that is posted up top. that is a cool pieace of software.
Thanks again,

BUC

Dont know if this has anything to do with it or not but I know the new version of Kazaa has a hidden feature in it that tries to "borrow" your bandwith so its affiliate companies can use it, Maybe its something similar to that, ya never know.
