I've been having some problems lately trying to play avi movies on my media player...sometimes it works, sometimes it doesnt. I checked my settings and i have that format checked for types to play, but when i do play something, all it shows are the "ambience" visuals on the screen and I can hear the music(or words) from the movie. Anyone have any suggestions?? I thought it just needed an update, but i just updated and still doesnt work. _________________

You may need to download a codec for it. I've had some problems in the past. Try www.downloads.com and see if you can find anything there. I'm sure womeone will come up with something better. I usually do stuff the hard way but that's what I did and it worked. _________________

Use the DivX player. it is so much better than WMP it's not even funny... the quality is even better, on the same files. (no clue HOW thats possible, but, it is.) |

yeah thanks for help...after I posted I kinda thought i might've needed another type of codec, so I tried playing it in real player and it told me I didnt have a DIVX decompressor available...so i went to divxmovies.com and DLed the current divx codec for media player, but its still not working. (BTW, if it makes a diff, this particular movie im trying to play is the avi that EagleEyes recently posted on the "Seranaded? Demos" thread. Hmm
Thanks again BRN and to anyone else that may be able to help _________________

I downloaded a few episodes of Family Guy one day off of WinMx. I encountered the same problem. I just downloaded the same file format from a different user and it worked fine. |
