Hey I noticed this from another post and wanted to carry it over because it sounds like a good idea. I'd be willing to teach as many people as I could about classes, maps, strats, etc. I'm well versed in every class so I could teach you some good stuff for everyone of 'em. I'd like to have some specific time to do this but I'd be more than happy to teach people if they'd be willing to listen. Any suggestions or requests? My mail is listed here so u can mail me about it if it would work or if you're interested. |

Actually on a similar theme - what could be useful is if people who wish to improve skills in a certain class, make a demo of them as that class, then send it to someone else to tell them where they're going right/wrong.

Thats a great idea Greebo! Not only can you send it for review you can also watch it yourself with the time to notice your mistakes and moves that cost you points.
I'm not sure how to do this so some one post the commands and how to. I'm going to try it.
Bak maybe Tv4 if its slow sometime I would like to go soldier against you. I seem to have a timing problem with geting my rockets where they need to be in open areas. I've noticed otheres can so it must be my judgement with distances on the map.

That or you jerk your hand when you fire because something around you distracts you. Lol JD should know about what happens if you jerk the trigger while firing a weapon . I can try to be on from about 6:30 until 9:30 EST.

That's a great idea, about the demos. The command in the console is "record <filename>" I believe the command to stop recording is either "stopdemo" or something like that. I can't find that command offhand.
One thing to note is that a demo you record is saved in the resolution you play at. So if I play at 1280x960, few people will be able to view my demo correctly.

Yes the finger jerking does happen, I control it most of the time. Its just the distance to target timing.....
When the few times I play sniper I bind my space bar to fire. then when I shoot, my mouse dosn't move at all. Only two problems, 1 I don't have the skill to sit and wait.
2 I don't have the skill to sit and wait

The command to record a demo is:
record filename
Where filename is the name of your new demo. It will be found in your Half-Life/tfc/ directory as filename.dem
The command to stop recording is:
stop
Easy huh?
The command to view your new demo is:
playdemo filename
Where filename is of course the name of the demo you choose earlier.
And if you want to stop playback before it finishes, the command is:
stopdemo
Get all your TFC console commands here:

Thanks for the demo tips! Cstone is the all-knowing fountain of TFC knowledge. How big do these files get, by the way?
Still, the idea of a skills clinic is a great idea. That would give you a chance to experience the real thing. It's one thing to watch a video of Michael Jordan or get some hints from Michael Jordan, but neither one could ever compare to shooting hoops one-on-one with MJ. (When I say Michael Jordan, you pretty much know that I mean Bakuryu. )
To throw out another idea, it would be neat to have a dueling server. Just a simple server that only runs Mulch_dm, and has tiny player limits to force a one-on-one. Maybe you could set it up to provide a bot opponent if no one else was around. I can't recommend dueling highly enough. You can even learn a lot from players who aren't as experienced as you are.

Demo size obviously depends on how long you record.
I had a cstrike match recently - 20 mins got 14MB
Though it's good if you can use win rar to compress them (Had a total of 25MB of demo for my cstrike clanmates - compressed to 5.5MB)
