What version of the detonator drivers is the best for a geforce2 mx 400? I think some of my problems I am having are from using the newest drivers, which I don't know if they were really designed to be used with the geforce2 mx 400 or not.

The Detonator drivers are universal, and are compatible with a load of stuff. I use the latest ones with a TNT2 card . . . much older than your GeForce2. What sort of problems are you having? With the latest drivers, I had to lower my maximum frame rate from 99 (which it never hit) to 50 (which it hits all the time) to get a smooth picture.

Well, I am having some frame rate problems, nothing like what you were saying. I don't really care about them as long as the fps stay above 20, which they do. My main problem is with my sound card and half life, I have another thread about this but I don't know where. I had actually heard somewhere that new detonators for old cards were bad, but I could be mistaken given your example. I don't know what other problems there could be at the moment and what is causing them. My sound problem is that there cound is crackling or stuttering, or something like that, I can't describe it too well.

Actually the video card can cause problems with sound. I had a problem where my game would just freeze and start looping the last little bit of sound. I thought that was a sound problem, it sure seemed like it. But I read to disable 3dnow support for the video card and that would fix it, well it did fix the sound problem.

The only reason I thought it might have been the video card was because of the previous example. The problem with the sound seems to be like some kind of static. I don't have this problem with any other games besides half-life and now CS retail. I am soon going to try to uninstall cs and start with a clean install and then work up to the newest patch, checking the sound along the way.
