In TFC only, maybe only Half-life, I have sound that is crackling or something. This just started recently, but the only thing I have done is get a GF2 MX400 video card(most recent drivers), an optical mouse(most recent drivers) and got rid of the radeon card. I have a sound blaster PCI128 sound card(most recent drivers). _________________ I need to make a sig, but I don't have the time. Maybe I will eventually. |

Make sure your mic and speakers are plugged all the way in. _________________

Does anyone have a copy of the default copy of the config file, or knows how to get it back without a complete reinstall? I want to see if going to the defaults and then tweaking would help, since I did so many tweaks before(for the old video card of mine), that maybe something is out of place in my config and needs to be fixed. _________________ I need to make a sig, but I don't have the time. Doubtful, I just bought the sound card, and anyhow, then why would they work in other games? _________________ I need to make a sig, but I don't have the time. Maybe I will eventually. |

Ok, I formated my hard drive and reinstalled my OS and Half life. I installed directx 8.1a and the newest versions of my drivers. Nothing helped. Occasionally I have had my video stop and my sound began to loop. When my sound is crackling, it seems almost like it could be described as breaking up. _________________ I need to make a sig, but I don't have the time. Maybe I will eventually. |

Yes, it is only happening in TFC/Halflife. I have the retail version of counter-strike and it isn't even doing it in there. _________________ I need to make a sig, but I don't have the time. Maybe I will eventually. |

I had that that problem a while ago when I first got my new soundblaster live 5.1 soundcard. What it ended up being for me was it came with to discs, the first was the software disc, the other was for all the applications. I uninstalled both and tried running each one without the other installed. When ever I installed the application software, I had a problem. That was on my old machine. So long story even longer, I just never installed the applications programs to my computer and the problem was solved. Seeing as how you are running a soundblaster card I thought it could be the same problem. Good luck and let me know if that was it. _________________

When I reinstalled I grabbed the drivers off the website and didn't get any of the applications. _________________ I need to make a sig, but I don't have the time. Maybe I will eventually. |
