Uhhhh... I think some of you are being a little narrow minded *cough JR. The comment about the ville being just pub servers wasnt neccesary either. I'd say if you got 10 caps on any map and had a score of over 100 you would get quite a bit of respect. Now for me, I would use nails when your next to an enemy. They will take him out faster than a shotgun. Use shotgun at distance and infect when you're about to die. Or if you're in a rush just spam the medkit and run. =) _________________

Yea but i'm proud of that. Yes you do need to do more, but that's the main thing on maps other than offense v defense maps. Everything all depends, sometimes it's required, sometimes it's optional... Save of course infecting and healing.

There was this (Null) Dude the other day that was running 140 and 10 on acropolis2. Wonder who that would be.
I like to use the nails at point blank, not because it's faster (in most cases, unless it's a HW or something, but you'd run out before you killed him in that case), just because it's awsome to kill people with those things. _________________

I really dont go around infecting like I used to, small areas work best IMO to play med as an infector. You can hide around corners or it gives you the get away you need to not be killed. Avanti is awesome for this, just respect the respawn points. The infect then shoot then run works great if you dont wanna go for the flag. Mostly if I'm O going for the flag I try and avoid conflict as much as possible so I have my strength to get the flag and run it back without dieing if possible. Doesnt make sense to only have enough health by the time you reach the flag to get kill by one shotty blast. To me a good medic really isnt an infecting medic but a healing medic. If you see me call for me and I will come. If you are in my path of return I will make sure you have health then go cap the flag. Hell, even if I have the flag and you just got infected Ill try and heal you even though I may die trying. Ppl that I will infect if going for flag caps are snipers and engies. They seem to stand around or try and stay alive and end up cross infecting other players. Sollys, I just avoid them unless I know I'm going to die so I try to leave them my special **** to remember me by.
Oh ya, if its a hw, quite a few never see you since alot of new players play that position so find a spot that they will pass you then infect from behind, shotty them as much as possible till they turn around going DUH and then run.
heh I went 199 and 17 on Acropolis2 yest. |

Yea, but that only means O v D maps and stuff like fry_laser

Nah, Healers sux0r too... Just kidding. I try to run my cursor over everyone on my team to see if they are seriously injured or not, and if they are below 80% i usually heal them unless i have a nade primed or am in the process of a speed run... I make a point not to heal snipers though.
Healing medics, infecting medics, whatever, i have decided are all good and well in Avanti, and stuff like it (warpath, dustbowl), but, i don't play med on those maps ever... So my conclusions come from CTF and CTF alone. _________________

This is all an interesting discourse on what a "good" medic is, so I'll throw in my 2 cents: Take Meatjuice as an example -
The man has infection as the #1 weapon in his arsenal!! Not nades, not shotty, INFECTION! Would you describe him as a good medic? In the last 7 days: 40+ caps; 130 sumthin' sentries destroyed, etc. I sure as hell would describe him as a "good" medic. Capping machine or not, he has had a positive impact on his teams chances, and probably had a lot of fun
So, back to the point: Meat Juice-like infection skills.
I'm not saying that I want to be another Meat Juice (WoodJuice? MeatWood? ewww!), but I would like to sharpen up my skills with the kit. Actually, I'd like to be AS GOOD as Meat with the kit, and then use it or not based on my personal tastes and the situation. Frankly, I'd better pick a more realistic target, like just getting better
JR, Snag, Computer, Dad, Sully, Blown, et al - Thanks for the advice on the bags, shotgun work and killing the nme medics. That's exactly the stuff I'm looking for. I'll try to incorporate that stuff in my gameplay. I'd still like to hear from you Meat if you get a chance!
Thx for the tips, and I hope that I can become a very painful thorn in your collective sides very soon! _________________

Hmmm, I dont understand if you are trying to say medics on warpath arent good? I sacrifice myself to conc to 3 off the sniper ledge to move the cap forward and die from the sg's. Unless your a spy your not going to do that without taking the sg down first and if there are more than one sg even harder. Dustbowl, ya I dont play med since that map isnt suited as much for it. But it does work good for D if you have one med. You can run up hiding and then come thru and infect as many ppl as you can as far away from the cap as possible. The distance they have to travel to get to the cap will end up eating into thier health so much that they will be either 1: Easy kill for your teammates, or 2: A kill for you. Now having more than one med on D on that map seems pointless. |

Anyone that pointed out that the main objective of anymedic on any map is capping is 100% right IMHO. There the second fastest class. Have concussion grenades and every weapon necessary to take down sentries (nades, nail gun, SPEED!). Although a medic who gets many infections may cause a lot of havoc I think the team with the medic racing for the flag and counting on his teammates to dismantle the defense is being the most beneficial.
Oh defense however I think a medic that infects many people is very lethal and very distracting for the offense on, although this really only applies to O vs D maps b/c a medic on defense on a CTF map is kind of silly if you ask me. (just because he would be better off capping).
Am I saying a medic with 10000000 infectoin kills and 2 caps is a bad medic, hell no! But I am saying that I would prefer to have one on my team going for the flag. _________________ "Don't be so humble - you are not that great."

Personally, if a medic can't cap well, and go toe to toe with heavier classes...he's not very skilled in my book. Medics should be able to handle themselves in *ALL* situations, whether it be capping, infecting, taking down SGs, or brawling with defense. They have most of the armor of the heavy classes, the weapons of the heavy classes (minus the explosive primary), and the speed to outrun anything in their path. Couple that with the ability to fly, and you've got yourself a complete package. The medics I most respect are able to cap, take down D, and heal their teammates. If a medic isn't healing his team, what good is he to them other than capping. They might as well be on different teams if the sole purpose of the medic is to cap. Not healing is not using your assets to the fullest. Therein lies the reason I don't have much respect for "medics" in the leagues. Yes, they can cap well. Yes, they can move quickly and effectively. But when they leave their wounded teammates out to dry in the enemy base, they're only hurting themselves in the long run. |

Umm since when did leave medic leave there teammates to die. I've seen many excellent medics that play in competitive clans and even in those situation's they'll heal a teammate that is nearby. If alerted to an infection they'll be there ASAP to get rid of it.
This is an entirely different setting though, One attempt at the flag isn't the big picture. The flag NEEDS to be moved, not neccesarily capped. Most of the time the flag is in a postition that is easily defended and difficult to get to. Moving as quickly as possible and getting it to a safer position is often the objective. I hope you arent' suggesting that perhaps they should take time away from the primary team objective of capping (the only way to score points for your team in these maps) to heal teammates who are also attacking. I feel this would detract from what is most essential. _________________ "Don't be so humble - you are not that great."

[sarcasm]Let's praise Meat Juice even more! Wow! Such an awesome medic! Capable of doing EVERYTHING! So super-duper cool, and on top of all that, he's dreamy too! A teenage heartthrob! [/sarcasm]
But seriously now, I would say he's skilled, very skilled, but not as skilled as you make him out to be, Wood. =D
Some medics are plain dumb. Whyb, if he's still around, for instance... remember that big fight about the church tower? Yeah...his ego can be useful =D For instance, I managed to knife two medics without getting infected.
I called out "Hey, look at me, I'm in the church tower ha ha ha ha"
Instantly, Whyb and another med (I think it was Meat, or Blue) rushed into the church tower....and found NOTHING!
Whyb and the other med instantly typed "Hey, you're not here" when....I rushed out of the corner near the entrance and knifed 'em both.
Up-and-coming Medics will do anything for an infection kill. It's very easy as Soldier to use your rockets and start bouncing them as they run toward you in a beautiful straight line.
And now, my tip for Wood: If you see a soldier, don't instantly rush up to him. Sure, you might get one infection shot in, but most of the time he's gonna bounce you. The experienced medics will avoid sollies and blast them away with shotgun until they waste all of their rockets, and have to reload.
For instance, I always HATED IT when Snag or Meat came at me with medikit, then backed away, shotgunning me and throwing a nade in my direction. That's the sort of thing that pisses players off enough for them to run at you and get fragged by SGs.
So Wood, if you want to become a great medic, combine everything together- Shotgun, S-Nails, Medikit Infections, Concs, Frag Nades, Speed, and Medikit Healing, and Practice. Oh, and a good ping doesn't hurt either.

One good thing you can do to restore the defense's health is throw them the flag. A cap will restore their life. _________________

I don't care what any of you say *cough*Chocobo*cough*, Meat is one of the best medics playing at The 'Ville. I love it when I get to wear him as a hat. He seems to be everywhere all the time. So, Wood, he would certainly be a good person to get some medic philosophy from, for sure... just as is Snag.

Meat Juice is no good because I was on a league server once (not a n00b server like the VILLE) and there was a Medic there who didn't play at all like Meat Juice and conced a whole lot and didn't play n00b maps like Avanti and all anyone did was play to cap because lord knows all 11 people on your team can be carrying the flag at any one time and everybody was so 1337 not like the n00bs at the VILLE who like to play for FUN and man I have such a woodie for the 1337 players because they have the ONLY opinion that MATTERS and the only reason I like to play at the VILLE is to look down my noses and complain about how lousy everyone is and how they don't know how to REALLY play TFC.
Good gosh. If it means so much to you to be freakin' 1337 at something, learn how to play basketball or do brain surgery or something that will provide a PAYCHECK. Or get you LAID. _________________ I'm not internationally known, but I'm known to rock the microphone. |
