Someone from the home office remote booted my DHCP server last night and it never came back up. I had to set DHCP up on another server this morning. I can't get anyone to fess up to rebooting from home office. Gotta spend the day doing my job instead of spamming the forums.

Dell. They suck. They have the worst designed server I have ever seen. As far as their "vaunted" tech support...why pay all that money for premier service? I had to spend 40 $%#$#% minutes on the phone with their premier support person to get a new #%#$# cd drive for my server.

Actually I used the time productively. I posted from my laptop and stabbed lots of holes in the Dell Monitor boxes in my server room.

The discussions we had...
What I would like to do...

ROFL! I had a similar problem with a dell DVD/CRR-W drive... I actually talked to some schmuck on the phone and explained that I couldn't read any discs with the one drive, so then to test it, I took IDENTICAL machines (we have like 40 of them), just swapped the drives, and sure enough drive A from machine A didn't work in machine B, but drive B from machine B worked great in machine A, reading the same disc... obviously not a cable problem, not a controller problem, not a power problem, not a bad disc... it's a drive problem. So the idiot says "Ok, well have you run our diagnostic program..." and started to tell me how to do that. Finally I told him to shut up and just send me a replacement drive, eventually he did
Actually, having matriculated from tech support, I can understand why he didn't just accept my diagnosis, since he probably gets 23 llama calls/day with solutions like "make sure your power cord is plugged in" and "no, using windex inside your case was not a good idea"... |
