Tyndall, South Dakota With a whopping population of 1,600 people, i'm sure you have never heard of it, if you look at a map it's southeast of sioux Falls about 130 miles, but hey as long as my computer or cars don't die i'll be A-Okay. _________________

I live in the St. Louis area and work at the casino that just declared bankruptcy! And no, it wasn't because of me. I think.
I'm from the same place that now plays host to E.G. Mine and Chan. E.G., all I did when I was there was drink. That is why I'm soooooo good at it.
Snag, my man, I've noticed where you're from many times and I always meant to tell you, Packers ROCK!!!
My team dude. I used to go to every game at Milwaukee Statium, before they stopped playing there. _________________

I live in a small town in Hot and Muggy SW Florida called Arcadia. If you have ever seen the movie Palmetto (with Woody Harrelson and Elizabeth Shue), some of the scenes were filmed here. We also have a world famous rodeo.
Building a house in Port Charlotte though, which has world famous fishing! _________________

WARNING: THE FOLLOWING STATEMENT MAY BE HAZARDOUS TO YOUR PROFESSIONAL SPORTS APPRECIATION!
If I followed professional "football" at all, I might like the Packers. But I prefer College "Football" and "Real" Football (a.k.a. Soccer). American "football" is nothing but grown men dressing up like astronauts to run around smacking each other's bottoms inbetween beer commercials. Then they have the gall to complain about not getting paid enough to play a game most Amercians play on a nice afternoon with some friends, FOR FUN! You don't see teachers whining about not making at least 6 figures in a week. Hell, I think they'd have a huge party if they made that much in a year. So, I can't appreciate anyone in America who gets payed more for "working" one "season" than many of us will make in a lifetime. Sorry to rant, but I can't stand "professional athletes". You want heroes, go down to your local school/fire department/ambulance service/police department, and give them the money you'd normally spend supporting "professional sports". I'm sure they'd appreciate it a whole hell of a lot more than some "sports hero". |

woaw...point taken. and i agree how some professional athletes are corrupted and greedy S.O.B's. but college ball is no different. they are all being prepped and guided into that direction as well...they decide on what school they will play for by whichever school gives them the most expensive gifts. and i never said these guys are my heros...i already understand who the real heros are(heck, i even wanted to be a fireman when i was young)and ive contributed to many donations and sponsored many 'walks for a cause' type of fundraiser. i watch the Bears every season since i was 9 because of entertainment. when i started following them i didnt even understand what salary cap and free agency meant. to this day i get confused by it. yah, i hear this and that about soccer..err..football...and how they play their hearts out and are not in it for the money...which i agree as well. but i am just not entertained by football than i am to american football. on another side note...i dont think there has been as many deaths and riots caused by american football...those people have got to learn that it is just a game...sure there is a tradition to uphold, but damn...the cost of another persons life as well as endangering the lives of many is just not worth it.
soooooo...uuhm...sorry snaggle if i sparked anything inside of you this late evening. i understand what you are sayingthough. but i love the game...i love playing it in the park on a sunny(or rainy!)summer afternoon...and i love watching it-especially at my local bar with all my other buddies and buddies ive met there...some of them are those same heros you talked about: firemen, policemen etc... |

Man, loads of footballers in Europe are on £50k a week, and some are even on six-figures a week. That's just from the clubs, nevermind the sponsorship deals the top players have. And they all cheat as well, taking dives and feigning injury, all to con the referee into sending off opposition players (Rivaldo's one in the World Cup is a regular occurence these days). I've stopped having so much time for football because of things like this.
(That last bit was a lie - it's just that my team, Glasgow Rangers, aren't doing so good these days, plus I play too much TFC) |

Snag, I hear what you're saying and I agree to an extent, but 3gunn said it very well. I enjoy it for the entertainment aspect, football players aren't heros of mine.
I totally agree with you that professional atheletes are spoiled punks, but I still like to watch the game on Sunday.
3Gunn, you are gonna take some heat from me now, bud. After further review, THE BEARS STILL SUCK!!! _________________

Wow, I really wrote all that at 2:30 in the morning....I'm impressed. I didn't think I could say that much so late/early and get away with it. It's not that I don't like "Football", I just don't like the hype surrounding it and other professional sports. |
