Halloween was my last day on DSL. We bought a new house and DSL will not be available there until Mar 1,2002. DOH!!!!!!!

Neither Cable nor Wireless broadband are available here so I'm stuck with Dial-up slow as molasses connection. HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Doc you gotta give me somethin' for the PAIN!

So which class(es) work best at 500-600 ms pings?

I was just guesstimating and exagerating. I hope my ping is lower than 300.

My deepest condolences to you for having to go from T1 to 56K modem! How did that come about? That has really got to suck!

I went from T1-56k because:
Last year, at uni, I was in the university halls of residence which have T1.
This year I'm in a private flat - so no T1

And to the best of my knowledge, ADSL ain't available here yet, nor is cable.
With any luck come next September - I shall be back in halls with my T1 = ownage

WOE IS ME!! I connected to my ISP last night at 44K. The best ping i got was occasionaly at 175-200 but if there was any action it would bounce between 350-1200. I don't think it is the modem. I think it is the dial-up routers at my ISP. They are mostly DSL now and I think they don't allocate as many resources to dial-up. The game is unplayable. (First attempt 24K and 3000-4000 ping!)

DOH!!!!!!!!!!!

Well, you could always play Engie. Just build an SG and go hide. You might even get POTW like that.

Maybe try another ISP? Not all dial-up connections are created equal.

If it makes you feel any better, I'm going through 1000-miles-from-home Ville withdrawal right now. [sigh]

I have a cable modem, but videotron (my isp) always finds a way to screw us. They are the biggest television/internet provider in montreal, so they can do anything they want- jack up the prices, cut down on services, my ping lately has been 400-600, instead of my usual 100-350. It's just horrible!

well having a high stedy ping is fine its when u got pings like me I jump from 26-500-56-600 and soforth and when that starts to happen you jerk around and spies are hell but as long as people in my complex arnt dlen porn like wild morons i can play a pretty nice game. But Powers and I had dial up when we first started its not all that hard its just a difference of a few deaths a few kills the ping works with you just dont try to beat someone to the punch as a sniper unless ur a good fast shot. But look at it this way once you get on a fast con you will be so much better. Oh and ew DSL get cable much better
