OK, I'm sure that's there's one measly little step I missed here, which is par for me when dealing with this kind of stuff.
Here's the story: I purchased a Plantronics Audio 70 headset. I plugged the pink mic plug into my Sound Blaster Live 5.1 sound card, left the black plug dangling, so I can hear from my speakers, not my headset. Ran through the tests, and my mic works fine. I am able to go into Start Menu>Programs>Seirra>Voice Setup and I can hear myself just fine in the test. I've binded capslock to 'Use voice communiction'. Everything seems to be a go.
But when I get in the game.... you know that little voice icon that shows up in the multiplayer scores, it's grey if voice is not being used, coloured if it is, and it blinks when a player is currently using voice com. Well I don't even have the grey icon. Why not? Can anyone give me an answer or ideas?
P.S. Yes, I have already searched the FAQ for this, and could not find anything for this particuler problem.
Thanks, Goon |

Why would you want to hear your own voice? That icon is to see if someone is transmitting, you see the icon in the lower right corner when you transmit, no need to see it in the scoreboard. |

Like I said, there was one little thing that disabled me from using my mic: my stupidity!!
Thanks Snag!
P.S. Yeah it works perfectly. |

As far as I know you cannot bind any key to caps lock either.Try another key and if it still won't work I can run you through the whole setup process _________________

Caps is a bad bad bad key. Use something else.

Just hold down the key when you start and say "Can everyone hear me?" In a low-pitched, unclear, Scottish mumble. If your team replies yes, then it works.
I use Q, as I use WASD for movement. I may switch it to Mouse3 soon.
BTW, I use fire and jump on the mouse, but what others are good for mouse3? |

I've tested it in game, and everyone says I sound OK. Everything is fine, thanks for the help guys.
P.S. Actually Caps Lock seems to be working fine for me, I can't use Q because thats my 'Special Skill' key (Left and Right mouse move me forward and backward).
edit: Maybe I'll try 'A' if/when caps gets screwy on me |

Ya I use the letter Q for my microphone. It is very easy to press especially while im moving and stuff like that. Very simple! _________________ A beast is always out there!
