But i'm curious. Where does the ville in general stand as far as scripting?

I'm just curious, so i figured i'd ask.

I use one key instead of 2 for reloading and walking, I use 1 key instead of two to duck jump, I use 1 key instead of 2 to prime nades, without holding... I don't see anything wrong with it. Unlike some people here, I don't like moving my hands all around the keyboard. The more I can have 1 key do, the better.

Personally, I use absolutely no scripts. Never have--never will.

(Besides, my brother would kick my butte if I did.) As for whether it is right or wrong to use scripts, it is not for me to say (that is up to the admins) but I do think that it is somewhat unsportsman-like.

(Yes the spelling above is intentional--I have a 5yr old who loves Toy Story 2.)

I find the scripting issue to be a very sensitive issue as Ive been dealing with it left and right playing Jedi knight 2. I dont see why people feel the need to use these as its not making them a better player, IMO. It drives me nuts because it seems most people start off with a fairly complicated script to do a difficult move then they start to script simple moves to save them from doing one or 2 keystrokes. (and no im not flaming anyone) sometimes it just seems that people arent happy if they cant push one button and let the computer play the game for them. If you practice any move long enough you will be able to do it as good if not better than any stupid script could do it for you.

Scripts are a tough one to judge. Some are useless. I can see where some would would cause more harm to the individual using them, than good. Scripts to prime a grenade and then throw a grenade to me are ok. Actually that script would hamper me. You are actually doing two kepypresses instead of holding down a key and letting go. Now, if you shoot a rocket and throw a grenade on the same keypress, I think that is bogus. So now you have one keypress instead of two. Some people think scripts are ok because Valve made it accessible. Valve also lets you spam, but people don't like that either. If a script saves you time over another player, it IS an advantage, no matter what they say. I don't play with scripts at all. I play the real way. Anyways, it has been discussed a few times and nothing was resolved.

People with scripts, quit being lazy!!!!

That's a shame... by that right problems like typing kill when infected, respawn spamming with spy pills, snipers, and sudz

Have been discussed but never resolved...

As written on the "rules" page: Anyone found running hacked mods, proxy bots, or any kind of 'helper' paks, or addons, are considered cheaters and will be kicked and banned immediately. You will also be reported to server admins globally for possible banning from many other servers. SO JUST DON'T DO IT!

I'm not an admin, so I can't make a decision on this type of question, but I am a vill'un and get to express my opinion!

My personal opinion is that scripts are a "'helper' pak" or "addon", and therefore shouldn't be used. Binding keys to reload and stuff are not running an outside script... but running a reload script, auto-drop extra ammo script, etc etc etc is bad.

I think Pandora is gonna be pretty upset about all this opening of her box!

And how are you going to find out who is scripting and who is not?

Helper packs, etc...I think that might be talking about nose paks, retextured maps (see through walls), etc.
