Here's the one that my parents fell for...now we have cable
If you can't get service in your area, I'm sorry, but give this a try if you can.
Ok, AOL unlimited service costs ~$20 a month, yes? You most likely also have a second phone line for internet access. That also costs ~$20 a month. So, right now, you are paying $40 a month for internet access. Once you pay for the set-up, cable is ~$30 a month, and does NOT require a second phone line. So, it is actually cheaper to use cable than AOL on another phone line, in addition to the speed your connection will gain (not to mention how much faster your computer will be once it is free of that cursed program)
Again, these numbers were true in my area, I can't say the same about yours. Good Luck! _________________ Isn't having a smoking section in a resturant sort of like having a peeing section in a swimming pool? |

LOL Borg, i have had the same problems and same ping you always have and i am staying to play with it. I do tell my parents everyday that am sueing AOL, and everyday i feel like throwing my pc off of the empire state building, but i still play. I also have a worse and older comp and i, too, have AOL. I respect your decision and i am almost about to quit for awhile also. _________________ <---- LinktoDeath-TPF-VS-

The only problem with that is that we don't have two phone lines here. We don't get many calls so we only have the one. _________________ I need to make a sig, but I don't have the time. Maybe I will eventually. |

I can handle the ping. What has driven me over the edge is the constant connection problems. If I can get these under control, I would be happy and most likely get in game again. So far the only reason that I will go back in game is to test things out or to play in the special events.
During my testing session, I noticed that when the connection has a problem, the ping either skyrockets and freezes or just freezes(stays the same). If it completely kicks me out, then I get that connection problem thing in the corner of my screen and my ping just stays the same and I get booted. If I don't get disconnected, when I get going again, I have a loss of 10-30 and it continues to go up until it gets around 40 and then boots me out to the console. During this time, I cannot type in messages in the say section, but I can use voice, but break up. Occasionally, it will start going again without the loss and I can continue fine until the next connection problem. _________________ I need to make a sig, but I don't have the time. Borg, you said something about getting a job to get the money for the connection would just make it so that you wouldn't have any time to enjoy it. That is entirely untrue. There are TONS of people here who are adults with full-time jobs who still manage to have high speed internet and have plenty of playing time. There are also a lot of us here with part-time jobs I'm sure who make enough for broadband (with some leftover).
I have a part-time job for the summer and I make about $150 a week; and I still have plenty of time to do other things. And that's plenty to pay for cable or whatever else you want.
Anyways, I just hope you get the problem resolved soon. Godd Luck. |

My problem is that I am taking a lot of classes full time, even during the summer. By the time I normally get my homework done for those classes, I have a little time to play on TFC. I also have strict restrictions on me and I am normally sent to bed around 8 or 9. Then being at classes by 8 in the morning. Getting out around 3 - 4. That leaves me with no time. If I didn't have school to worry about and keeping a 4.0 GPA, I may have the time, but right now I don't _________________ I need to make a sig, but I don't have the time. Maybe I will eventually. |
