|
|
I have recently been wanting to get rid of my Diamond Viper V330 4meg 1x AGP card. I don't know what to get. My system is only capable of (or at least what the specs for the mobo say) PCI 2.0 or PCI 2.1 or AGP 1.0 types of video cards. This means that some of those new 4x cards won't be able to be ran on my system. And before anyone asks, I am not getting a new motherboard/computer, mainly because I don't the money for that and don't have the time to get a job. Please feel free to ask questions(some I may not answer) and to post suggestions. Thank you. _________________ I need to make a sig, but I don't have the time. Maybe I will eventually. |

Matrox G400 or a voodoo.
I know Voodoo is gone but there card is still available and real cheap. Drivers can be gotten thru a link at the 3dfx site .
Some cool people are keeping it going for a while longer.
The G400 is a great litte card. The Dual head is nice if you have a 2nd monitor or TV handy. |

Also, Borg, I have noticed that as AGP becomes more and more popular, they are becoming cheaper than their PCI counterparts. Also, AGP is just faster. _________________

I have the same question but I'm on about a $70 dollar budget and am planning on playing games in the future that will need a nice Video Card
(shadow bane/EQ 2)
Also I don't think I have an AGP slot on my comp so I have to buy PCI.
Advice? _________________ "Don't be so humble - you are not that great."

Thats why I want to get my motherboard upgraded because my existing motherboard has no AGP slot let alone only four PCI slots. |

What I am looking for is the best gaming video card that I can find. I have read that some video cards like one shown on the site http://www.avault.com/hardware/print_review.asp?review=inno3dgfmx It says in it that you need an AGP slot (either 1.0 or 2.0) so I was thinking that meant that the card would run on my 1.0 compliant system. I am capable of running AGP 2x cards. _________________ I need to make a sig, but I don't have the time. Maybe I will eventually. |

nVidia GeForce 2MX/MMX 64 meg for AGP is about $60 in my area now, and PCI is about $100. Damned thing was $100 when I bought it! Anyhoooo, I would recommend just about anything with nVidia. _________________

I've got a few nice ISA 1MB vid cards for ya...
Depending on your budget and gaming needs, the GF 3's should do quite well for ya... Dunno about compatability/driver issues, just "pure performance"... only looked into vid cards a little so far...
I'm gonna be building a new PC this summer, so I'll be watching for your recommendations |

I like my Geforce4 Ti4600 128mb 4xagp card. The graphics are so real and fast sometimes I get duzzy.

If you are going to get a GForce 4 MX you would be wasting a little money. A GForce 3 ti 500 is a better card than the GForce 4 MX. As soon as I can find the links I will post them. _________________
