Put -nocdaudio in your command line to resolve this issue. It took me multiple re-installs of Half-life to figure this one out. thanks Valve for the debugged update! I had to dig for a while to find it, so I hope this helps... _________________ JohnCarter, Warlord of Mars

no unfortunately not, however, if you escape out of the game and click "done" as far as you can before it asks if you want to disconnect, this may help you retrieve your sound without having to restart Half-Life. _________________ JohnCarter, Warlord of Mars

Theres a way around that alt+tab sheet. just press and hold esc+alt+cntrl. Make sure you press escape first. _________________

I have heard that that is supposed to fix a lot of different problems. Most I think have to do with winxp. It unfortunately didn't fix my opengl freezing problem. _________________ I need to make a sig, but I don't have the time. Maybe I will eventually. |

Well, what it boils down to, is that the latest patch is CRAP!!
I have windows 98 running on my machine right now, so its not just an XP prob. Between Bill Gates and the bungholes at Sierra, we gotta real pile of you know what for entertainment.
I haven't been playing much at all due to the consistent hard lockdown of my machine, so you all won't be seeing me until I get my new processor and a new OS (preferrably win2000pro, at least when the lock down happens in 2000, its just the program and not the entire machine). So you all have fun on TV and I will just browse around the forums until the bungholes at Sierra come out with another patch to fix the crap they caused with this patch (which is an endless fix since they first released the frickin game!), or i get the OS and CPU upgrade, whichever comes first... _________________ JohnCarter, Warlord of Mars
