Any IDEAS other than the one I think I will have to do which is buying another copy of Half-life.

Frys has sales on Half-Life as low as $19.00 all the time. If you have one of those near you. Of course you could use a Router acting as an DHCP server, your ISP might not allow that or require you to pay for the additional computers hooked up. So you will have to check.
If you share a key you will share stats and names and punshiments.
(killer what have you done now??) lol
Buying the new game is probably the cheapest way to go.

Yeah that's the way I was leaning. I work for a Software company and we hate it when people don't buy a copy for each PC. There is a Fry's in Sacramento thats only an hour away and I can always try Wally World.

P/S you techie you as an MCSE myself I should have thought of your idea as well. My ISP would not charge any more as I use ISDN now and they hit me for 2 lines anyway. Next month I'm moving to an area where DSL is available and then I hope to see better pings tha the 150 - 400 I get with ISDN.

Thats an interesting point. We have 6 computers here and share software between them. Especially since we build our own. Except the laptop. Now don't yell at me about piracey we have bought enough software to supply each computer with there own complement of programs and OS's. But we do share them amongst themselves. For instance I'm not going to buy 6 copies of autocad just to be able to use it in the bedroom or the den. If I were to play half-life the game I would not want to buy a copy for everyone of my kids either. But if there using it online then its more than a home monopoly set and I don't mind buying another one. Now I'm talking at home now not bussines.

As I understand the Software License issue it is NOT a problem to load the same software on multiple PC's without a multiple site license as long as only one PC at a time is running that piece of code. So if you have something on a PC in the kitchen and that PC is not using the peice of software and you have another PC in the Bedroom that is IT IS OK. It is only if you run both at the same time that you are violating the Software License.

But don't worry I don't know any Software cops and if I did I sure would tell them anything. With a name like Bada Bing or my real name (Bucchieri) for that matter the coppers are off limits. HAHAHAHA

This varies from company to company. You have to read the software license agreement. Most companies are tightening up on this. That is to say they will only allow the softare to be loaded on the hard drive of one machine (& often a laptop too for use on the road). Many used to allow multiple loads as long as it was not loaded into memory on more than one machine at a time.

For the home user this is not really a big issue. I don't think they are worried about someone who loads it on several personal machines at home. They have MUCH bigger fish to fry -- i.e. corporate software piracy. Unless copies are being used simultaneously on an ongoing basis, the spirit of the license is met IMNSHO.

I was formerly an MIS at a Law Firm.
