I was one of the admins there at the time and called Paul on his excessive speed. I asked him to display how a HW can go faster than a spy when I hopping myself (hopping is something not really liked on the ville.) His response to me was "Valve wants it this way, newb." He was faster than a scout as a soldier on acropolis. Now if he would've explained how he did this I would've dropped it and played. He instead called me a "eight year old newb." He was insistant on calling myself and Robert E. Lee (who runs the servers and website)newbies and idiots. Fine, then he is banned for being an asshole and also not explaining how he does his 140% speed thingie he was doing. The proof is upon him to prove to me he is not exploiting a game. To call me a newb is funny for someone who has played TFC for 15 months and 6 months as an admin there. I never have seen someone move that fast for the classes he has played. Understand the suspicion? I however, did not give him the speed cheat. I kicked him and he came back to bitch a second time before he was banned. The only time I've used a speed cheat #4 is when a llama comes back after being kicked and has an attitude (which will include swearing, racism, or anything along those lines.) It's something not used often by me as an admin.

Yes, we do know of many of the other servers as well. I would say that we have some of the strictest rules you will find on any TFC server. Our MOTD says you MUST teamplay. You MAY NOT camp respawn on any map. You CANNOT be an asshole. You CANNOT be a llama. You CANNOT use "exploits" either. Our vision of the ville is to keep the gameplay as close to reality as possible which does not allow HW's go faster than a spy. Read the MOTD. This will be my only post on this matter. IMO using exploits of speed does not make you skilled, just my opinion. The server does have the right to set the MOTD anyway it desires. That is our T1 we use and our time and effort we put in to run the four servers and website.

To GoD!: I've only used #4 in cases where people think that they can get away with whatever they want. Someone using the N word is an example. Someone telling me to F off deserves the chance to cool off and fix their Exe. Maybe they'll think next time before they try to ruin 21 other people's game. Many llamas will intentionally try to ruin a game by flag holding, being an ass just for attention. Well you reap what you sow. Please get the word out to avoid our servers if you don't like the way it is run. It makes my admin job much easier and the gaming much more fun for the 1,000's that do play here every week.

Aw, I understand.
Just so you don't go overboard in the future; a hw bunnyhopping can still pass a spy. 140% is quite a speed increase. A soldier can still get about medic speed while bunnyhopping.
If you see bunnyhopping as such a bad thing (I don't like it either) you could ask the offender to stop and then ban them, don't go messing with their configs to FORCE them to stop. I know you weren't the admin who did it and I respect you for your honesty on it, but Robert disgusts me with his lack of respect for others property.

Ok, here are my thoughts. GoD!, you're fighting a lost cause. I can guarantee that absolutely NONE (that means zero), of the people that already do play at TheVilles are going to stop playing because of your ::scoff:: boycott. Number two, TheVilles are ususally filled to capacity from 7:00-1:00 so frankly we don't give a damn if the idiots you can convince don't want to play here (more room for me). Number three, admins aren't just randomly picked, they are usually the ones who rarely say anything, but "ns" or "nt", I trust that Rob and the other admin made the right decision. Number four, unless you are an idiot and put your critical system files in your Valve folder, an admin CANNOT format your hardrive, you dolt! And lastly stop wasting the space on our forum, we know your point and, once again, don't give a damn.

First I refuse to call any mortal "god" so I will just refer to him as the "wanabe diety". Hey that kinda rhymes.

I am sure that he allows "cookies" on his machine when surfing the net. If he does then what is all the griping about "changing" someones machine. Even without "cookies" if you cache then stuff is written to your computer every time you surf the web. GET A GRIP MAN!!

The effect of speedcheat4 is neither permanant nor destructive. I know Greebo used it on me in a misunderstanding about a name I used. We got it straightened out and I had no problem correcting it.

This is not an egregious [look it up] abuse of power IMNSHO. Although I think it should be used very sparingly - as it appears to be.

OK guys can we all drop this? Both messageboards are using the "mob mentality" here. They are flaming us on their boards and we are doing the same thing here. This banning happened over two weeks ago. I thought this was a dead issue until three days ago. Each side has made their points on both boards. You have to expect the game spy guys to defend Paul because he is a regular there. I expect everyone to defend myself and Robert here on the same account. Please don't specualte on what happened because I was there first hand. I've told the people on gamespy that if they don't like our rules and out admin mod to please avoid us. We have 1,000's here each week and hundreds of regulars who like out rules. Let's let this die and move on.
