Woah, woah, woah! I have never used a script and never plan to. I was just wondering what the actual rule was. I often come across players using them, and in particular, I was inquiring about the pipe-laying script for Demomen. It allows them to lay the pipe bombs straight down. I never intended to use it myself. I agree with all of you that it is immoral, and therefore, I would never use one.
My question was whether or not it was against the rules. Of course it is immoral, but can it get you banned? From what I can understand from this post, it is not a bannable offense. That doesn't mean I am going to use it, but that I won't tell people using it to stop. If it isn't against the rules, it is none of my business whether or not they are using it.

Anything that you install in your computer to help u out is a cheat I feel. Most talent are able to to w/o it or at least develop it naturally.

Everyone calm down over ogc, you are not forgetting the good it also does for the counter strike community  The built in system timer and winamp fader in the new version just brings more people in everyday lol
I accually forget the other features that don't involve cheating, too early in the morning. |

i think this is like a monthly discussion here....but anyhow...
how can you call something cheating that was intended to be used? however, i don't think scripts that do things someone can't do in game by themselves are something that should be used.
also, scripts really don't make you that much better. i have no clue where this myth came from that scripts make you into some superstar player when you use them. people seem to freak out here over scripts, especially the people who have never used one. if you ever used one then you would know that they just don't help that much. however when i make that argument it seems to fall on deaf ears since people who have never used scripts and refuse to also seem to refuse to accept the fact that they don't help that much.
anyhow, out of the scripts i ever tried (most of which are not useful) i only still use one...my reload script. and even with that script i am still constantly pressing buttons to reload, they just happen to be the same buttons i use to move. all the other scripts are too rigid and too specific to ever have any use. do i use a script to one rocket jump out of the crossover basement? No. do i use a script to rocket jump, double rocket jump, conc jump, long jump, or grenade jump? No. scripts are not flexible enough for those situations.
its not as if the reload script helps me aim or decide what i am going to do next or spy check or even throw my grenades. people need to calm down over scripts. if you've used them then you come to find out that you can do the things that the script does better on your own.
ok i will shut up, but it just drives me insane when i hear people go crazy over something that doesn't help that much.

Wrong.
The myth is real, the best example was the demo script back in the days prior to TFC 1.5. With that script you could use your detpipes as a weapon, i.e. you threw the pipes and it exploded instantly, no delays. This changed so much the game that Valve took step to make this impossible.
So yes, some scripts can be VERY useful.
I know most of you will disagree with me, but IMO the biggest problem with scripts is that ppl making them distribute them freely so any llamas can use them. If I'm smart enough and skilled enough to write myself a script allowing me to do multiple things in one step, using legal Valve commands, good for me. But if I give this thing to anybody.... then you spread something that unskilled players would never have done.
