I have AOL DSL. Boy does it suck so hard! My average ping runs from 200-300. But I have to stick with it because my ol' man wants to learn the internet. He has my old, friggin' ancient PC which he uses to play casino games. It's cool, but when I get older and responsible, then I'll think of upgrading. For now I guess I have to always think positive, and always be fortunate for what I have _________________ I like you---that's why I'm going to kill you last.

I Started out with AOL when I first played TFC. Then my 500 pings got too crappy for me to handle. I moved to Juno, a free service, and was getting a ping of around 300. (sad huh?). Then around the time I got my cable modem (Jan. 02 I think.) I then played and got used to the almost no lag, and a couple of days later I wsa asked to join TVB. Fun times.
Back on the AOL thing. AOL was proven by many MANY techs. that it fried my harddrive AND modem AND Motherboard. That was a hellaiuos 2 months! Then I had to pay 100 american dollars for the techs to fix my computer, I was in withdrawl from the 4 days waiting for my computer to be fixed and replaced.
But after that I found that my computer could do all that it used to.
I could go on about AOLs tech support and more but all this talk about TFC makes me wanna play. _________________

I had AOL up until October of last year. I really had no problems with it until they went to version 7.0. Until then, I was getting pings of about 250 - 300 on the Ville servers that were in use at that time. I then upgraded to 7.0, and it went up to about 450 - 600 and my computer was needing to be restarted a lot more.
Since I live in Austin, I got RoadRunner after that, and my ping is normally between 60 - 120 on all the servers. I have had to call for service 3 times, and two of those times Time Warner came out that night and fixed the line coming into my apartment. The other time they had to wait a few days to get to me, but that was when I just got the modem and it was no problem to wait. They have been very good at responding in my opinion. _________________ Been chasing since May 2001!

If you have to be on dial up, use msn. When my fiancé and I first got together, I had msn and he has AOL. He ALWAYS had problems!! I never did. He eventually saw the light and discarded AOL.
Now we have BellSouth DSL. DSL rox0r. I almost always have excellebt ping.... below 100, unless, of course, there is an issue server side. |
