I agree, Blown...I'm still not running on one machine.
I d/l the latest DirectX and sound drivers and I still have no sound and TFC crashes when I try and join a game.
There is a message box behind the scenes, when it crashes, but I can't get to it to see what the error is.
Does TFC have an error log that it generates? _________________

| Shark, add this to your command line. -win It will make TFC launch in a window mode and maybe you will see what the error is that way. |

Shark, go to www.planetfortress.com and into the forums. There is quite a long thread about ppl having issues with the update. Maybe something or by you posting someone can help ya out. If you do post specify all your specs of your system. It may help. You could always email it to Sierra but ya know what will happen when ya do that. |

I had the same problem as shark on a few pc's at work. Problem is the update changes the voice communication to direct sound (NT doesn't support directX)
I got it to work by adding -insecure -nocdaudio switches to the end of the tfc shortcut.
Hope this helps.

Curiously, the problem I have with the new patch is when I shut down my computer. It crashes and I get a BSOD with fatal exception. TFC runs fine though.
I tried several game and application tests to make sure the problem was TFC, and indeed, only when I played a TFC game will I get that crash in shutting down.
I will try the forum at planetfortress then. Thanx for the info about that _________________ PJ --- ancient IDIOT with a rusty CROWBAR....
