Hi all! This other night I was playing on TV II's murderball. Anyway, some llama decided to attack teams without the ball. Then, he started calling me names because I didn't want to fight him, since I was a demo and he was soldier. Now I repeatedly told him to stop that and play the game right. Well, as all llamas are, he doesn't want to listen. Then, some other TV regs, such that jerk-off guy, would started trash talk back at him, which is something I appreciate.

Well, as TV regs, we like a friendly and fair gaming environment free from the stupid moronic a$$holes out there who want to ruin our fun. But then sometimes there are no admins around to kick them. And we don't have kick votes. What do we do??? Well, though it is not the best of methods, but the TV regs in the game at the time could all start to verbally fight the llama(s). That is, we want to make them feel unwelcomed, cornered, and being ganged up on.

If many people started to trash talk to a single person, this person cannot really retaliate can he?? Also, it'll definitely make them want to leave since the environment is unfriendly to them. Together with our effort, let us eliminate those no good llamas. But of course, this is my own personal opinion, I don't know if this will really work. What do you think guys?

Having been an IRC Operator in the past, there's something about llamas that I have learned. They WANT you to harass them and verbally abuse them and make them feel unwelcome.

THe mental picture of one of these kids (so-called because their mean age is usually around 13 or 14) is that they are unwelcome in most normal areas in life, and are usually too meek and/or weak to stand up for themselves in real life. So they find their way on the computer to be as big an asshole as they possibly can. It's Monkey See/Monkey Do for them. They want to be as big an asshole as people are to them in reality, so they can regain some of their lost pride.

I know it sounds like I went off on a tangent there with all kinds of psychology, and for that I apologize. But if you goad them and get into what they want, they won't quit. The best plan of attack is to find an Admin online at the time. I know it sucks to be a narc, but it's the most effective thing to do.

Kickvotes wouldn't work, because that'd be abused to the point where regulars would be at the mercy of these nitwits in a new and unwelcome way.

It sounds like we're kind of stuck in a bind, but it's the way things are. We have to grin and bear it for now.

Politeness is probably the best policy. LOTF is right . . . the llamas just want you to pay attention to them, and no one wants the Ville to get the reputation for having hostile regulars. The best thing about the Ville now is the sense of community and fairness. Maybe the best solution would be more admins???? I know Robert already has an admin list as long as his arm, but with four-soon-to-be-five servers, finding an admin can be like trying to track down Bigfoot. It also seems that the later it is, the better chance you have of finding an admin. Earlier in the day, especially on weekends, it can be llama city here.

Ah, the heck with it. This is still the best damn server in the universe.

Yes there are some Llamas who won't respond to anything but I have had several good experinces. One with Kronic (that was you right?) on Mulch Saturday morning. There was a sniper who was picking people off and then went soldier. He being on my side I started rocketing him and telling him the rules. He could not move because I kept a constant barrage of rockets up. Yes I died a few times from mirror. Than Kronic went HW and came over to our side and together we convinced him to be nice.
The other time I have already posted somewhere but it was the same thing basicly.
Most Llamas act bad because they can get away with it but if they can't they either change there attitude or leave. Being pushed into a cornor with rockets and held there certianly keeps them from doing anything. I think thats the key they can't move so any fun is removed from there Llama activities.
Just keep an eye on your health so you don't have to die.
So I think its just the opposite we have to come down hard on these individuals and work as a team from both sides to get rid of them or change there ways. Just like bullies in school.

Not to contradict the comments already made, because I think they are appropriate in the right circumstances. But I have found if a Llama (particularly in Murderball) is arguing with someone and not believing the rules, I can sometimes, by simply stating them for him/her without any accusations or threats, actually convince them. It's not a given that a new player will know the Murderball rules and it is a public server that will show up on any server list. So as a regular I can sometimes defuse a situation by telling them that the rules are thus and admins do ban folks regularly if the rules are not followed. If they persist, I have no compunctions about the woe that may befall them next.

LOTF is right. Llamas love it when you harrass them. Take it from an ex-llama, I used to be an incredibly annoying llama (if you read my post on how to be a better llama you will probably know what I mean) If a llama starts attacking you verbally, dissing him will only add fuel to the fire. When I was a llama I would basically keep disrespecting and annoying all the players until I was banned. Even if I was kicked I would usually recconect to the server and annoy the hell outta them again- until they would page an admin and ask him to ban me, but again I was an incredibly annoying llama. Anyways, my point is that the only way to combat llamas is by banning/kicking them from the server.

I think the best way to deal with lil people is to kill them repeatedly like roofcutter said. they just try to get you to argue with them but when you have them try to back it up they normaly fail and get fed up with the little "game" verbal abuse seems to be nothing i guess you could say graphical abuse seems to work cause most the time i dont even see what smack people are talken im buisy killen em less talken more smacken is my theory

The ones that get on my nerves the most are ppl that call thier team names when things go bad. Not sure why but, it gets me mad. Even when I am on the other team it steams me up.

Ok maybe we can sum up.
1.Ask the team there on to stop _____(lamas name) from whatever they are doing. (Team effort pays off here)

2. Explain the rules in a non threatening maner. Further explain that Llama activity will get them banned when there WONid is turned into the admins.

3. Don't start a verbal onslaught. Be professinal. don't give them ammo to contiune argument.

4. Jump to 7 if you wish, if not contiune on

5. If this fails try pinning him in cornor with fire or people.

6. Allow the other team to send someone in and kill the offender.

7. If all else fails get admin.
Maybe this should be first but I find it hard to jump out and bother an admin for a single llama.

what do you guys think? What changes should be made?

HEHE what can be done ... prolly nothing thats the way the game unfortunitly is unless their were a admin in each game at all times but then it would be a job for the admins sted of a game to play with people. Infact I played murderball just a while ago and almost everyone on the other teams were coming in to my base shooten and my team dident have the ball so I told em to attack the ball holders and when they dident I killed them. the only other way is to take murderball off the list or make it a guild only kinda thing

I know, we need more admins (hint hint ) I know there are plenty of regulars who are very capable of handling the administrator responsibilities. Is there an drawback of having too many admins?

Also, if we want to find an admin to ban some llama, how do we contact them? There used to be a link for all the admins and contact information. It disappeared after the new addition of the "Competitions" header. I think it would be very useful to have the ICQ pager for all admins.

Well Monk, if you really need to get ahold of an admin check the memberlist button that is at the top underneath whatever banner pops up. It lists all the members in the forums as well as methods of contacting them. You can get my ICQ addy from there and try to get ahold of me for any assistance at any time.
