I've decided to play as many classes as possible this week, and I'm probably going to play mostly random. I've come to realize that getting POTW was enough, and now it's time to return the favor. I am hunting everyone who sits way back behind the lines, camps, or pulls llama stuff (BTW why do llamas get the Oorgle sound? it has to be the collest noise ever). In short I'm hunting everyone who sits back for stats. I did this too much, and now is a time of attonement. I find that players who kick back as a sniper or engy (something almost every top 5 player does) are miserable at other classes, so I'm pulling all the old skills out of the box. I warn you, campers and behind-the-lines fighters, now. Know that I am coming for you. |

OH no a born again team player.
I assume that "we", that are running full tilt toward the front lines will be left unmolested No... I diden't think so.
Oh well that that does kill me only makes me stronger... I ought to be a giant by now.

Thats going to be interesting.. Just don't go around telling people how they are supposed to play etc..
I had a soldier (no names) on my team the other day shoot rockets at me because as I was stand at the top of the ramp opposite cap 2 on Avanti... He was bitching at me because I would not move forward and take 3... while he is shooting rockets at me, I'm looking over his shoulder at no less than 2 HW and a engie of the oppostion standing next the the flag across the courtyard. Instead of letting me do my job and picking them off that idiot got me killed...
Judging by the attitude of my fellow sniper, he had the same experience.
Unless they are respawn camping or breaking a server rule, let people play how they want to play, it's supposed to be fun after all, ISN'T IT ???????????? Dictating to people is not fun.
And if your thinking about checking to see what and how I play to see if I fit your category, remember I did the 29 club last week.. If I'm on a good ping time I play aggresively, if its crap ping time I sit back and play defensive. I'd rather play aggresivley, but it's just a none starter some nights, not all of us are blessed with cable/T1/DSL/Etc.. |

My favorite TFC pastime is killing Snipers and Engies behind the lines as a spy. Nothing like that "crunch" sound as your remove their Head from their neck

Hummmm... I guess I really don't know how to take the last few posts I've seen about getting "back" at the "lame" peep that "hang" back behind the lines. Well as a snipe I have never had any luck helpin my team by rushing the sg's with my 90 health and 50 armor. The role of snipe is support, both on def and off. Yes I will be the first the tell anyone that I stink as any other class but since when is not being the master of all the classes a sin? I have worked hard trying to be the best I can at what I do. Is that a crime? Maybe, who knows? I would never tell anyone what class to play and how to play it. I am fairly regularly in the top 3 players on my team with # of frags. I don't really think a person can rack up high #'s of frags by "hiding" behind the lines. Snipes have a roll to play and if it makes peeps mad well I guess I'm sorry. I have never been pissed at any player that has schooled me in a game and I would hope that someone would not be pissed at me for returning the favor. Again, sorry for the way I play snipe. I have found that it is the best way of helping my team. Stats or no I would play it the same. Cya all, Gib's |

Am I telling you how to play? No I am not. What I am saying is that if you are a back-line stat nut, camper, or llama, I'm going to hunt you down. How you want to try to stop me is another issue. After all, I am only one player, it can't be that hard for a team of 10 or 11 to kill me, can it? By the way the first time I got POTW i did it with all 29 weapons and 5 caltrop kills while maintaining a kill to death ratio over 6 to 1. Now I'm going to go front line and shake things up, make people move around and challenge them. |

I agree, my tactics change per class. This week I am learning Eng and hang back, but I will rush to set a SG at a Command point. My main class is Sold and I play O all the time. Even kill my self taking SGs out for the team. Stats only mean one thing to me. It lets me see what I do right or wrong and that I use grens to much. The rank part is nothing special. I have been at 10 and went random and droped to 77th. Did not care, I think it is funny I am in the top 5 not sure how that happened.
P.S. : Being high in rank does not mean you can play with a team. just DM.

Guys, guys, guys...we need to relax. Just let good ole Frag let you in on a big secret. Winning POTW is nothing special. It was the worst weekend of my life in tfc. Ask John Doe eh? What IS special
is taking those out who are there for the stats. Nothing more tells you "a job well done" than the stathead logging off because you've "ruined" the ratio. Then finding he went to the other server...and repeating the cycle!
This is a PSA from your favorite one time, one time, one time potw!

Well, okay bakuryu, maybe you're not "telling" us how to play, but you do practically "imply" how we should play and "want to" force us to play certain way. Now this is just a game. People should be able enjoy it at different levels, as long as they donot disturb the fairness of the game play.
Perhaps, you do expect this post from this "stat head." Well, so what if some folks like to accumulate kills and avoid death? That doesn't mean they don't contribute to the overall team work. I play three classes well" engy, sniper, and spy. I play sniper and engy a lot because I just like to kill people instead of being killed. I like to beat people instead of being beat. That's just my nature. But no matter what, I try my best to get as many kills and help my team advance. Some of you might not believe me. But that is something I do. Beign these weak classes, I can't just charge to the front and battle with HW guys or soldiers. I have to do other things to help my team.
Also, bak, you know? Sometimes you post things that are just condescending and sound like you're giving us lectures and telling us what to do. This is not your server, we don't belong to your clan. Please get off your high horses, as Cycodad once said. Also, from your stat page, I see that you play sniper the most. Now, doesn't that mean that you have to hang in the back some times as well? Aren't you being somewhat hypocritical?
Please, this has been a friendly environment for people to come in and enjoy themselves. Stop trying to force your concept of how TFC should be played onto others.

First, a general observation: The same people who yell at you to "move up" and "push forward" are often the same ones who will complain about the lack of defense when everybody moves up and the enemy runs past you and caps. Defense is an important part of the game, and good defense is good team play.
Are there players who are TOO defensive? Of course. It's only really noticeable when you get a bunch of defensive players on the same team, and can't mount an effective offense.
Now, a personal observation. The great thing about TFC is that it's not just a deathmatch. It supports a wide variety of styles. That's why I'm here. I don't have great reflexes. If you get me one on one, a quick player will beat me every time. So instead of skirmishing at the front lines, I try to be useful as a solid Engie or a sneaky Spy or whatever is needed. I'd like to think I make a good teammate despite a lack of "mad skillz" (hee hee). There are players who have this macho thing where they want to prove that they are better than you (that comment is not specifically aimed at Bakuryu, by the way - there are a few targets I'd like to see him take out on his crusade). That's fine. If you are one of those people, write this on a Post-It and stick it on your monitor: ANYONE IN THE VILLE CAN KICK THOM'S A$$. Got that? Cool. Let's play!
