Darn sticky button or something.
Don't let Bush fool you. He is much smarter than he appears. Plus everyone gives the President more credit and blame than they deserve. Just like a quaterBack in Football he is only one man in a team. The real power in our country resides in congress and the people who control them.
2% of the population of the US conntrols that 90% of the wealth. And they control the people in Congress.
Sad but true.

OK so this is the wrong group of people to rant to, but youre not going to change my mind about Bush.. just not going to happen. But Im not going to try to change yours either so...

And yes. I am distrustful of the US. I'm not saying other places are better, but... both my parents were anti-war rebels in the 60s, and large parts of the ACLU, and directly involved in winning the case against the government regarding secret files kept on citizens...

When they were released, my dad found that they had been watching him and were ready to arrest him at any moment for the lone reason that he did not support them.

And just last month, it came out that the police were doing this again, here in Colorado... and it was declared "anti-american" to expect to have privacy, at the cost of security...

So coming from where i do, I think its fair for me to not trust government...

Dude I don't trust the government either but it is better than most. We are still the freest people in the world. So we can speak our minds as long as we don't preach for a violent over throwing of our government.
Heck there are people in our government and police forces that want to take away our right to protect ourselves with LEGAL guns also. They will only get mine by prying out of my cold DEAD HANDS.
My fav bumper sticker is:
FEAR THE GOVERNMENT THAT FEARS YOUR GUNS.
So no I'm not trying to change your mind or influence you in any way.

Also not trying to change your mind. I really do not trust the government. Any of you that know anything about Libertarian policy would know that their number 1 priority is to down size government and minimize it's role to only it's essential functions. www.lp.org I think that's it. Great party, just lacks backing.

Ok so the American and Canadian governments aren't pefect, but what do you expect, we are an imperfect race on an imperfect planet. This is the best government we have ever had. And hopefully it will only get better. Do you think that America could have become, and continue to be a super power if it weren't for taxes?

Speaking of the government, guess who's government has a trillion or so dollar debt?

I dont mind taxes... tax cuts are stupid - they please the people, but get the gov't in even more debt...

Yes, we are imperfect people. moreover, humans as a whole are stupid idiots. (if anyone takes offense at that, you're taking things way to hardly...)

Perhaps if they had to put themselves on a budget like everyone other human being alive one this planet then they wouldn't be in debt at all. Or maybe they should just quit wasting money on useless programs.

Neither party changes my life too much. I still have to fend for myself. However, I'm no fan of Liberals because they ARE more pushy in their beliefs and get mad if you don't agree with them. That is fact. If you don't believe me...won't you please come to Chicago? I'll take our "flawed" system over any other countries. Any reason why a lot of people want to get in? I don't see people at Key West trying illegally move to Cuba for a better life. Do you? How about Mexico? There's over 250,000 Polish immigrants here in Chicago. Any reason why this is? Mark my words.

The "utopia" Liberals are looking for will NEVER work in a Capitalistic society. The less taxes the better. The gov't does not have the right to take more money than they need. I also don't want to support the next generation of stupid, depandant people. Train them to do it right.

end rant

PS: Don't we have a no politics rule?

What's wrong with a polite political discussion. There's no flaming or offensive remarks. Why can we not peacefully debate a viable topic.

Btw no I must have got here after the rule was made.

Sorry guys this thread started about a certain issue. I would have thought that it would have ended with Chan's moment of silence post, which I would have preferred. The friendly fire issue happens in war and no one can or should be held responsible. Tragic things happen.

Do you think if we stopped our testing that other countries will? That answer is no. Why? Because one day they would love to take us over. It's human nature unfortunately. Do you think that Iraq (if they could) would love to take us out? How would've Afghanistan turned out? Most contries FEAR us. If we didn't have our arsenal, would they? NO
