If you had any reservations about joining the the ville's unoffical irc server because its just soooo confusing working with mIRC, then here's your solution:
Click here to connect to #ville
Save that URL and you can connect directly to the chat with minimal input.
You will, however, still need to download mIRC, and install it. You can either get it off the mIRC website, or if you don't like choices, just grab it here.
Ok, now nobody has an excuse for missing out on all the chatroom fun!

Perhaps you have to speak louder at your computer to get it to work. You know that new software is just not perfect yet. |

Well you have to have mIRC for the link to work... You can use the link I provided, or go to http://www.mirc.com and get it from there.
Now join!! Shaft and I are lonely!

Thanks cstone, this is a simple solution for those that find logging onto an mIrc server a little to confusing or just plain ugly.
Oh yeah, remember to bring the beer and porn it's party time!

mirc lets you chat with lots of people at the same time (think forums without all the refreshing <IMG SRC="/phpBB/images/smiles/icon_smile.gif"> )
Anyhow, once you have mirc mastered, get ready for this: you can chat on IRC while playing TFC!
1. Download Half-IRC.
2. Unzip files to mIRC/halfirc
3. Load mIRC
4. Load Half-IRC
5. Load TFC
6. Bind a key to "irc_toggle" <--this turns the irc windown on/off
7. Bind a key to "irc_chatmode" <--this is like pressing y to talk in game - but only the IRC users will see it.
Is that cool or what?? or just confusing?
[*edit: unzip files to halfirc NOT half-irc]

well its not so much for chatting w/ players in the game, as it is good for chatting w/ players stuck in IRC. It does get just a little confusing when u have a)game chat b)team chat c)voice coms and d)irc chat all going on at once... not to mention all the killing you are trying to do!!
Here's what it looks like in game:

irc is a seperate entity it's basiclly just text chat. that and IRC doesn't normally have a limit to the number of users in one channel(chat room). |

As for halfirc, I downloaded that little while ago from the BR website, but it didn't work. I have irc in a different folder than c:/mirc, does that make a differance?

I renamed a few folders, and now mirc is in the c:/mirc dirrectory and halfirc still doesn't work I'm using a version of the half-life irc tool, with most of the configuration from jpolaris still... Does that make a differance?
