I've had both. Only advantage for getting a Intel is, wait there is none. My AMD is very stable as long as I dont push it too much.

OSU, you prob just need a better HSF, one drawback of AMD systems is that they do run hot, but a good HSF will take care of that problem, plus they are only like 10-20 bucks anyway. Dont forget a 1.6ghz amd will perform like a 1.8 pent.

If your a home builder of your own pc, check out http://www.pricewatch.com for the cpu or any other hardware prices and then go to http://www.resellerratings.com and see how the person ranks as a seller. You can get some really good deals that way, especially comparing Fry's cpu prices and the ppl on Pricewatch.

I'm perfectly happy with my P4 1.4. Everyone I know personally who has an AMD chip has had a catastrophic disaster happen to it which required a completely new one.

I like not having to worry about my heat sink not working and my pathetically overclocked to the point of wondering if you can use it without burning a hole in your motherboard just so I can say mine is faster than the Intel chip of the same clock speed AMD no RAMBUS DDR crapola skanky ass chop shop computer that I'll have to replace half of the components in a month because it's running too hot and the power supply is frying things computer. I'll take my stable, operating within specified tolerances good for years without a complete rebuild Pentium chip, thank you very much.

Mine went for a yr overclocked to its maximum and never had a bit of trouble with it. My new cpu just needs a new cooler and Ill prob push this one to the max. Or maybe some watercooling for that extreme OC.
